Though I remember seeing fabric and metal frame balls that served the same purpose in like the early 90's?

yeah that's right...the base layer and the wood core seem to have been treated before. But how ?...
I was guessing it's just pre-bent tipspacers...

I agree with endre, but would like to add use a canning jar instead of reusing something (they're stronger), and I'd put the jar in a small wooden box in case of implosion.

One place to start would be determining what kind of flex you'd like.

Do a search for a post by endre (I think) where he posted a nice plot of production ski flexes.

And do a search for a post by bambi where he posted an excel file that computes the flex for core shape and glass weight.

Does any one know any methods where a varnish or protecvtive coat sinks into the wood a bit? If you were to use epoxy then wouldnt it come off after the first tune? schuss Some marine epoxy makers make a very thin penetrating epoxy, used for treating wood that's slightly damaged/rotted that you don...

While I agree that Indigo looks like stuff for poseurs...

Kingswood uses a bamboo core and I've heard nothing but good stuff about their skis. Do a search on TGR for some opinions.

Here's a crazy thought. Freeze the magazines, to prevent mold and wrinkling. Then use a vacuum pump, with the vacuum chamber in the freezer, to sublimate the ice. I think that's what's done by libraries when they have stuff they're trying to save. Maybe an ammo can for the vacuum chamber. Cheap, eas...

I came across this one a while ago... http://www.sciplus.com/singleItem.cfm?terms=12256&cartLogFrom=Search At $80, it should be cheaper (and simpler) than the compressor/vacuum generator route, esp. if you don't have a compressor. Maybe. Though it does say it only pulls -10psi as opposed to a ma...

If the powder acts like water, I wonder how skis modeled after waterskis would work. Waterskis have a narrow tip, wide waist, concave bottom (tunnel) and narrow squared off tail. If I ever skiied on powder (I'm in the NE) or if I was even set up to press skis, I'd try something like this. I could b...
