Vacuum press

Hi I've got a few questions about the press. How do you connect your vacuum to the press. Do you have many holes in the base plate with attached hoses? Don't you need breather fabric when you have the grooves in the base plate? Dou you need a powerful vacuumpump for this kind of setup? I have a pump...

To OP: I think when you bought your 2 presses and the beams your total cost will be more then with a regular skipress. Plus then you've got a compressor OAC: Im going to hold on to my vaccum for a while. Heat is on the way. Going to test these little buddies i think. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyki...

I've quickly looked at the options. 1. Have an electrician put in 3 phase power. If at all possible it's probably fairly expensive and I don't know how long I will live at my current location. 2. Buy a converter. I believe this costs around $300, add the $500 for the grinder and it starts to get qui...

Base grinder for Norwegian builders

I found this on Finn.no, a fairly cheap base grinder for sale by an unknown guy. I would like to buy it but I don't have 3 phase power outlets so it's up for grabs:

Tire sealant for bladder?

I just thought of it. If anyone is having trouble sealing their bladders maybe bike tire sealant could be an option. Bike tires are usually run at about 20-35 psi but can go up to 55 psi. I have a high torque motor but I am confused on the belt tensioning method described here for easy belt changing. Havn't really thought about belt changing  I guess the support plate behind the belt has to be quite sturdy as well since it can only be supported on one side if the belts are to ...

Water heater

I have read the discussion in this thread http://skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1628 and find the idea of using a cheap old water heater along with a cheap old pump for heating the ski press interesting. 60-70 degree C water would be possible. My idea would be to use a water heater connected...

it depends on the rod's cross section area nominal strength for common steel is 1400kg/cm^2 (elastic deformation) so in reality, i d guess quite more before a rod fails anyway, i think you ve missed something in your calculation above to find the total needed load, you should consider just the SKI'...

Ok so how much pressure could a construction like this create? Supersimplistic approach. Normal pressure for a ski press is maybe 60 Psi = 413 kPa Area of the ski press is 200cmx40cm or 78.7"x15.7" =8000cm2=1240 sq. in Weight held by the rods is about 33747kg or 74400lbs Divide that on 16 ...

Are you sure you didn't put the topsheet upsidedown? In that case only the protective tape sticks to the ski. I've done this mistake once and I could just peel the topsheet off.
