Don't waste your money on Aluminum for the cat track. I used .75" X 1.5" for the main "flat" portion, then .75" X .75" for the tip and tail, wall thickness is .065" works great. You will save money, and less holes. I used .125" cable, (Home Depot) Just my 2 ce...

For sure! I used W6 x 20 WF beams, then put standard 3" channel from web to web just under the flanges (flush with bottom of flange) on 12" centers. I then put a 3/8" X 5" HR flat bar between the flanges to create the bed for the bottom, and the top that is 17" wide. Then ou...

I have tried everthing I can think of. Thick rubber, thin rubber, hose with no cat track, thinner more plyable hose, hose under cat track with hose above, bla bla bla! I think the only way is with a negative die on top. Then there is still the issue of keeping everything in line when pressing. Spend...

Drill a pilot hole, 3/16 to 1/4 first. Then drill your larger hole at a very slow speed. Slow speed is the key, and of course, use oil. I usually use "Rapid Tap" it is a very good machining oil. Also, if you don't know how, learn how to sharpen a drill bit. Keep them cool, and sharp. With ...

Just want to give a shout out to Miller Studios. I have been using PBT topsheets for a few years and this year decided to build cap skis (i accually finally figured it out) so decided to go with the thinner nylon material from Miller for a easier sidewall wrap. I have to say the product is so much n...

Hey Dr.D, Yea I went to Apex, it was a cool twenty spot. He charges five per side. I can buy them online, or at Harbor Frieght for $18 to $22. It seems to me they just need to be "freshend up" a little. We all know that our blades never get chipped from making cores. The bamboo is the wors...

Just thought I would chime in on the "Aluminum Cutting" of the cat track. Get some Bee's Wax, a cheap carbide blade for your Skilsaw, or Chopsaw. Put a little wax on the blade (while it is spinning) and start cutting. You will be amazed how easy it will cut. Be sure to wear ear, and eye pr...

Nice work Kam!! The core looks very thick at the center, what is the dimensions of the core, and do you have a platform underfoot? I really like the way the top edge line fades into the tip and tail. Very clean!!! Do guys really ski on 170's? Or are they for a girl??? LOL!!!

Go to PDM website, they have all the "WideFlange Beams" that are available. I used the W6 X 15 with a .375" X 5 flat bar to complete the bed. The finished bed is 17" wide. I think most presses are overbuilt IMO mine deflects less than .080 with 100 psi. These beams will cost much...
