Vectorply 22oz Group Buy

Hey Gang. I'm thinking about buying an entire roll but I have no need for that much glass. They are offering to split it up but I'm thinking about not having it slit. I would just sell it off by the yard at 50" wide. So basically every 2 yards would be enough for 2 skis at 6.25" wide strip...

Fiberglass Industries in Amsterdam, NY. So far their NE rep has not responded to at least 2 emails from me in the sat month or so.... I may have to call them. The economy must be doing well... I have the same issue with most sales reps. ski building and work related. good luck man and thanks for sh...

Thank you all for the useful information. So it looks like I would gain more stiffness in the x and lose it in the Y. Tow! ahhh crap, another variable. ;-) Skidesmond: Not what I wanted to hear. That was the distributor I was look at. Maybe since mine was direct from Vectorply they sent "good&q...

I hear you on the cost. The cheapest I've fond it was for $14 a yard (50" roll) That's not to bad compared to the $8 for 24oz at fiberglass supply. only $6 more a pair of skis. Which makes it doable. Falls: I like your logic and it's great info to add to the discussion. I have no idea what fibe...

First some good old, o crap moments... not enough suction on the table. FFFFFUUUUUU.... well i've fixed that issue. both errors occurred at different times with different layups. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c26/Skimann20/DSC_0521_zpsd6acf439.jpg getting ready to for another pair. this core has...

For cutting out shapes I use a 1/4" down-cut two-flute. The down-cut keeps the work pieces from lifting, that's the main reason I use it. Has worked great for me! For profiling I use a big 1.5" straight flute router bit. I have the same. 1.5050" straight flute that works great at 80i...

Quick question: when I press my ski the "texture" of the 22oz fiberglass shows through the top sheet. is there a way to eliminate this? I'm thinking a very lightweight mesh fiberglass? I don't see a difference with my layup and the "big boys" besides molds and I don't see a txtur...

Holy Cow, You guys are trying really hard! tons of great ideas here. I think what Bloodtype needs to do is make a spread sheet with two columns. One "Before" and "After". See where everything is different and the same. there is so much info here it is getting quite confusing. Als...

it probably leaves a nice surface for them to bond their UHMW Sidewall too. I've been looking for a better bit than my two flute straight bit to cut the core shape out with. The bit seems to gain to much heat when I do it. Last core i tried a spiral upward bit and it did much better but I'm still lo...

Not that I would ever argue with Twizz because the guy has mad eng skills... maybe if you put bearings in the bridge it will allow for less friction and thus allow it to move easier. by having round stock then you could use bearings that would cup the bar, this would allow for tighter tolerances. my...

locator pin! love it! Chris, my last wood magazine tested shop vacs for how many inches of water they pull. I'll see if I still have it sitting around. the winner was a "crapsman" by a mile. I believe it was this one: http://www.sears.com/craftsman-xsp-16-gallon-6.5-peak-hp-wet-dry/p-00912...

I've had shop owners put their knee into my skies to see the flex. (flexing them past any point I'd ever go, i was actually impressed that they would go that far) and had a pop or two and they have yet to flinch at all. "industry standard" I guess.
