The templates are 1/4 inch aluminum shaped like the burton jussi (twin) in 156 and 159, and the smaller sizes are based on burton twins too. The casettes are large aluminum sheets that you lay the board up in to hold it together w...

Vacuum film and tape - $50

I just cleaned out my garage and found some old vacuum press supplies. Here's what I have:

2 yards x 60" vacuum bag film (VB602) from Jamestown Dist.
Most of a roll of vacuum seal tape

$50 for all of it.

I've ordered hemp canvas from Hemptraders.com and Rawganique.com

The board rides great - it's not noticeably different from a fiberglass board. I've been noticing that it feels slightly heavier at the end of the day. I think I need to weigh the board before riding and then after to be sure.

Problems with hemp fabric

I've been making boards with hemp canvas instead of fiberglass for a while. What I'm noticing, is that the exposed fabric edges are sucking water into the board after a day in the snow. This is obviously not a good thing. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to either coat the edges of the board,...

I don't want to waste any more time or materials. I'm pressing a few boards this weekend and I'll crank up the pressure and see what happens.

Thanks for the help guys!

I've been pressing at around 40 psi and using QCM EMV-0049 and ECA-408.

The cores I use seem to be pretty standard - I've ordered them from snowboardmaterials.com and from Sentury.

I'm hoping I can raise the heat and crank the pressure to help with weight.
