Forces are quite high indeed. The concern I have with your setup is that when you will rotate your rolls and get the forces on the sides you will have to find a way to block it in his angle because by just bolting it it will probably start rotating after a while when it loses grip. For a step-less c...

I'm wondering how you are planning to adjust your camber with the treaded ends. It would be interesting to see a detailed setup of the adjusting system. The reason why I'm asking is because I'm wondering how the forces will work on the bolt and/or thread.

Did you glue in the silk screen into the wooden frame to keep the tension in it or how did you do it?

Looks great,

Can you tell us some more about the paint/color you have been using for your silkscreen printing?

A picture of the silkscreen would be great as well.

BigG Skibuilding preparation progress ;-)

Hi everybody, I have been quite some time on this forum and a couple of months (9) ago I started collecting materials and designing a press. By the end of January I ordered my steel in 6m bars and cut it to the right length. As I'm working a lot in Germany and I'm living in Belgium I have to get my ...

Ideas like sawdust and other very dusty products which can be pressed with glue or epoxy could be checked with MDF.

MDF is something like glued, compressed wooddust or something like that.

Why don't we try to build an MDF ski

Davide tried the balsa and had some troubles with the homogenity. Kelvin showed us the foam but had some troubles with the bindings which were ripped out. Buuk posted a thread about a really nice and certainly usable solution for this problem. See: http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7...

A Carbon ski could have some similarity in my point of view. I have been doing some tests on hollow carbon rods and some of them can be bend very far. I think everything would depend on the angle of the carbon fiber.

Hi Geoff,

Did you make some FEA on your model?
I have a similar design and had to use quite some steel and special connection structures to be able to allow for 70 psi.

Welding will be necessary for such a design and you have to be careful with welding connections.

Best regards,

Geoff
