Re: Its so silent

*tap tap* is this thing on? I haven’t made a pair of skis in something like 7 years, and probably haven’t been on the forum in about the same time. Two kids, building a house, and a very busy day job can really pull you away from a hobby. To top it all off, my Facebook account was taken over by a sc...

I have the SWIX world cup setup, have had it for many years. The clamp doesn't go wide enough for even my skinniest skis, so I only use the end supports now. Still works good enough for scraping, although I do wish the clamp would work, the skis can move around a little. Ski widths considered "...

Would you consider selling the autofeed separately? I'd assume not, but no harm in asking. I have an ST600, but no autofeed for it.

Great looking cross sections! Do those test pieces have the CF? Hard to see it if it's there. Do you have a cat track? How hot are you curing, and is your layup otherwise symmetric top and bottom? You can get camber differences with temperature changes if your layup isn't the same top and bottom, ba...

As an aside - how did permitting go in Shoreline for the new shop? We are planning to bulldoze our house to build a new one (shop will be staying), and I'm a little intimidated by the permitting process having never built a house before.

The shop looks awesome!!! My shop is only about ~600 sqft, I always wish it was a little bigger. Epoxy floor makes for EASY clean-up. I did the epoxy in my shop just after we bought our house, it was an off-white color. Then last summer I had my shop fire and had to grind the floor down to concrete ...

omg...you guys are STILL HERE?!? :D I only come on from time to time to make sure nobody is pissing on each other and I have to moderate some sh1t. Making skis? Who's got time for that? (full disclosure, I saw the above mentioned expensive bit, and immediately ordered it... followed by the next siz...

I do 3/4 wrap. That last bit to do a perfectly-fitting full wrap can be a royal pain, once I did my first 3/4 wrap ski I never went back. I don't have any pictures of my nippers, but there's nothing special to them. Middle ground out of one jaw, the sides ground off on the other jaw, in roughly equa...

Ha, that old thing. That bender was pretty cool, but honestly I can bend a set of edges using my ground tile nippers in about 5 minutes, versus 15+ minutes of fiddling/adjusting with the 3-roller bender. My edges stay perfectly flat with the tile nippers too.

If anybody on here happens to buy one of them, and doesn't want the autofeed, I would buy just that from you.

I'd be worried about delam if it's really just vinyl. That adhesive isn't permanent, and epoxy doesn't adhere well to vinyl. I could see doing a mask and then painting?

Also in one of the pictures you have five bolts holding two firehose?????????????? where only one bolt in the middle of each fire hose imo this is not enough That shouldn't be a big deal, looks like he's using angle iron, it won't flex much. If you do get any tiny leaks you can spooge some silicone...

Those diagonal braces on the top and bottom aren't doing much more than holding your mold in place. It looks nice though. A "car or two" is maybe 6000lb. If you press at 60psi, you might have upwards of 60,000lb of total force in your press. I beams work well because they have very large s...
