might be hard with such small radii and p-tex's tendency to get feathery along routed edges, but why not give it a try?

I was thinking that using a cnc to make dovetail joints for sidewall attatchment might work well, especially for plastic that has a tendency to delam.

Are you saying watercolors won't bond with epoxy? It seems like a thin watery layer allowed to dry would get completley wetted out and bond well?

bamboo Vs. plastic sidewalls

Anybody have any opinions/experience comparing the durability of bammboo sidewalls Vs. p-tex or ABS?

Also what do you use to seal the bamboo after you have trimmed everything?more epoxy?

haha thats awsome! How have those bamboo sidewalls been holding up? have you had any durability problems compared to standard plastic sidewalls? I have been thinking of switching to bamboo due to some delamination problems I have been having during routing with p-tex side walls. check out my journal...

thanks for the help. I think I flame treated it just about liek you sadi, took the falme away as soon as I saw it swirl. Should I wet sand it after flame treating or before though? I like your Ideas of profiling sheets of the sidewall material, that is interesting. are they hard to clamp on when the...

So I convinced one of may professors here at Virginia Tech to give me credit hours for building a pair of skis or two.....awsome! yes, most people prebend there cores before pressing. I havnt not done it yet personally, but search the forums and you should find some discussion on it. I have heard of people using large diamter pipes etc. as a bending tools.

another question about tip spacers. What do you guys do where the core is thicker than the tip spacers? do you sand down the edge of the core to meet the spacers or anything like that?

tip sapcers and pre-bent tips

so what is the best way to attach tip spacers to the cores if you want to prebend you tips?
should I super glue or epoxy the tip spacers on the core before prebending or after?
