www.junksupply.com has wider base material on offer and ships worldwide afaik.
Otherwise I guess it would work to just butt up a couple pieces of base material to get a wider base. A die cut base graphic works the same way. You could do some racing stripe types of patterns for example.

Re: Base material - from standard HWMPE sheet?
Welcome to the forum! Base material is usually not only sanded, but also plasma or corona treated by the manufacturers to get it to bond properly. I'd suggest you try to get some scraps from other Australian builders and run some adhesion tests with your own abraded/flamed material for comparison. Y...

Re: Turn second layer og twi-axial fiberglass
The triaxial glass should ideally be used wirthe the same type of fibers facing the core - either the 45 or the 0 fibers. Which one of them is up to you. Placing the 0 degree fibers facing the core results in a slightly softer board over the length with more torsional stiffness. If placing the 45 de...

Re: White spots showing through base material.
There are some things you could try (or a combination). Many epoxies are quite brittle, so adding a bit of flexibilizer can help with delaminations. Make sure to test if the flexibilizer works with your epoxy on a sample! And as already suggested adding some sort of filler to hold the epoxy, such as...

Re: Top sheet replacement
I think the hairs are probably remains of a fleece-backed topsheet - however the fleece should have only improved bonding if enough epoxy had been used.

Re: Top sheet replacement
Capita builds snowboards by applying the topsheet after the board is fully pressed and cured...I was wondering if this was one of their boards. Still might be, as they produce OEM boards too.
If this has been built the traditional way, then the culprit is probably that they used too little epoxy.

Re: Top sheet replacement
May I ask what brand and model that board is?
I would suggest doing a thin skim coat of epoxy as a sort of transparent filler and then finishing with some 2k polyurethane.

Re: Delamination OR something else?
A standout change is the doubling of the tensile strain to failure (and the charpy). I'd expect the laminate properties to be better for the higher cure temperature, especially fatigue properties should be much better because of the higher toughness. Dang, totally overlooked that one! Good thing we...

Re: Delamination OR something else?
It is not just the Tg that goes up with post cure, other mechanical properties increase as well, especially compression. For the Sicomin resins we use, that is not the case. E.g. with the Sicomin SR 1280/SZ 8525 combo we use, with longer or higher temp post cures pretty much all relevant properties...

Another great pair! We use the same type of mold and when you reach the state where you only need to make a couple of new blocks is only beaten by the first time you don't have to cut any new blocks for a mold haha As for the base warping, this happens due to internal stresses of the base material t...

Re: Delamination OR something else?
The required post-cure depends on your epoxy resin - you can check the TDS if it requires a post-cure. For many resins a post-cure is optional and only increases the glass transition temeperature. In those cases it should be sufficient to just keep the board for a few days at room temperature to ful...

Re: Delamination OR something else?
I think a repair should work, but will definitely create a weak spot. The question is if it will be to weak to ride. If you want to make absolutely sure, you could sand the whole top layer off and press on an entire new top layer. For posting images, you can either use the "Attachments" se...

Those are probably pictures in older posts when the forum didn't offer image hosting. Users had to use their own image hosting services and the reason you're seeing these messages is probably because either the images were taken down or the image hosting service is having troubles. PS: I moved this ...

SMost probably the same construction method on those Atomics that you're referring to. The pulled down topsheet is a construction method called "cap" and has been mostly used on older skis and modern cheaper models. The only difference in the construction is that the cores and sidewalls ar...

Re: Tip fill alignment issues
You could try using a few small drops of superglue (the thicker gel type one so it doesn't suck into the wood grain) or quick setting epoxy on the seam in addition to the tape. I think that should to the trick.
