Hi G-man, Thanks for your reply! Of course I will post a picture of my press under 6 bar pressure. And it's a good idea to create some test pieces, although this might be quite hard, because the edges will close in the epoxy when the system is closed. So I have to build a fully closed test piece I t...

Looking great G-man!! I read you are pressing at 50 psi (about 3,5 bar). Does there squeeze many epoxy out of the skis while pressing? I designed my press to a maximum of about 90 psi (6 bar), so I'm wondering if more pressure will be better (and create a lighter ski) or that it will only squeeze mo...

Superb pictures!
Gives a good vision of what happens after waxing.

I was also thinking that using this kind of microscopic pictures we could maybe find out what is the best way of surface and flame treatment for UHMWPE sidewalls.

Everyone who has the passion of building his own ride should put some love and care in his press and skis! :) I'm sure that will increase the lifetime of both. Also as a mechanical / biomedical engineer I don't like sloppy work. @ Hose-man: Cool that you've been living in the Netherlands. Where did ...

I am also busy trying to figure out what's the best way to bond UHMW sidewalls to wood (and gfiberglass). The big problem is that plastics like ABS and UHMWPE, HDPE etc. are plactics with an low energy surface. There are some products out there that will help you to bond the plastic like Loctite Pla...

@Mutombo: About getting a smooth running ski / tip. I also use an arc to draw the sidewalls and a spline to close the tips. But I probably create the spline a little bit different as you do. In the first place I create a spline that is connected to construction lines (not a lot of CAD programs suppo...

Please let me know if this type is what you need! And please let me know if these are standard/good dimensions, just t...

I am arranging a deal for edges from Austria at the moment, probably with the same company Lindsay from snowboardmaterials gets his edges from. I called the company yesterday and the edges are sandblasted and coated (for bonding), hardness is 48 ±2 HRC (standard in ski industry). These edges will co...
