Waxless base/“embedded” skins
Hey skibuilders forum! It’s a been a minute, but I’m trying to get back into it. I’ve contemplated making some skis with a waxless base for some time. But I don’t know anywhere to purchase that material. Searching these forums, it doesn’t sound like anyone else does either. I tried emailing Voile si...

Kids Pow skis
When my 10 y.o. says he wants some home built skis, it’s kinda hard to say no. I haven’t built any in years, but gonna make a go of it. He’s probably 80ish pounds and 4’6”. Thinking 135-140mm or so. The question is how to tune the stiffness. I’m leaning towards 9mm and 16oz triax. Unlike with me, wh...

Yo comprendo your layup. What I'm wondering was what the core dimensions were compared to a full FG ski that *was* stiff enough prior to the wood topsheet. If such a thing ever existed, that is. IOW, when you say turned out a little soft with my core profile do you mean you used the same core profil...

I'm going way lighter than you. If you look at the breakdown of triax FG, it's something around 50/50 for what's in the 0deg vs. +/-45 direction. It's a little off from this, but I can't remember which is which or what's the site that actually has it laid out to look it up again and don't have the t...

I've not made a CF ski yet, but I did just get some in the mail last night, so soon (hopefully soon enough to ski 'em once or twice before summer sets in). I will say with FG that using release film for vacuum bagging in place of the top sheet gives a really nice finish (and you don't have the weigh...

Wow, way off topic for here, but I can try to answer. Yes, the part is asymmetric. I don't remember how it goes together without it in front of me, but, as I recall, it doesn't really look like it fits together properly until screwed down. Keep trying! Also, try telemarktips.com if you keep having i...

I've used the yellow tape and the gray tape and actually have an easier time using this black tape, which is about 1/2 as much (well ~same price, but the rolls are twice as long)

As a 1/2 time tele, 1/2 time alpine skier who hasn't skied *that* many different skis, but has skied the same ski mounted alpine and tele, my opinion is that a ski is a ski. If you like rocker, you should like it regardless of the binding that you have. I know some tele skiers don't like tail rocker...
