Using microlams...
This is what my press is going to look like. All the wood colored beams are microlams. And metal is steel tubing (2"*2"). Supposedly, microlams are stronger than wooden I-Beams/joists. http://images6.theimagehosting.com/press.th.png The press is 8' * 15.5". I'm in the process of makin...

hand planer....
I, personnaly, haven't see and posts about using hand planers. Most have been about using a table planer (14" wide) with a template or a router with rails.
Having said that, you could probably use the router method but with a hand planer, provided you make a bridge for the hand planer.

Don't know about reverse sidecut....
I've never riddin a ski/snowboard with reverse sidecut and don't like the fact that they are squirly on hardpack. Also, I'm not convinced that you cannot get the same effect with a regular sidcut ski. Also, I've heard that with a reverse camber it's hard to land jumps. Any experience with this guys?...

Which side of the Atlantic, what sort of construction, what sort of timescale. Another USA based, but only if you need them for next winter might be PM gear, not sure , but might have spare capacity over the sumer. Ideally we would like a very high-end all mountain ski. We would like a smaller hand...

NEngineer, I like your ideas. Have you identified any sources for a soy based resin during your internet searches? The recycled tire idea sounds really good. I think it should bond pretty well. I buy drip line garden hose that is supposedly made from recycled tires. It has a great texture for bondi...

Here's my $0.02.... Soy based resin. Supposed to stronger than regular resin from what little i've read on the internet. Using recycled rubber (from tires) for side walls. Might be heavy but it's recycled. Using bamboo for the core. Grows very quickly and its light and strong Bamboo can also be used...

Try Donek...
Try Donek. Donek.com
I believe he would do this but you would have to double check with Sean (Donek) of course.
They are well known in the alpine snowboard community for really bomber construction.

Have they worked with Soy based resins?
How does the strength/flexibility of soy based resin compare to traditional resins?
Do they supply soy based resins?

Here's my $0.02. Looks like you've just used one plank for each ski as opposed to laminating method. Is that right? The crack looks like it's along the grain. Is that right? I wonder if it was just a defect in the wood itself that you didn't catch earlier. Maybe this is why laminating method is reco...
