how tall are you?! Those 190 seem really short compared to you. Anyway, your skis look sick. Can't wait to here how they ski. Nicely done! I am a little over 6'6" tall, and I was wearing my New Balances so that puts me up over 6'7". They are a true 190cm length, not like my Explosivs that...

The UW (Wisconsin) Hoofers resale was last weekend and they had a ton of brand new stuff from last year for dirt cheap. Contact the Hoofers office to find out what stores brought stuff in to sell and then get in contact with them. There are plenty of ski shops around south central Wisconsin that hav...

Just got back from studying, tired, so here is a look at the pair I finished on saturday. More info to follow tomorrow. I call them "Hwy. 22" and they came out really well. I have made some significant modifications to the manufacturing since my first pair. Again details to follow. Dimensi...

very nice skis...came out clean and your process is very well recorded. When you made your second bases, your edges stopped before the tips, correct? If so, how did you shape the base, did it have a lip coming out around the tip to match where the edge ended? If not it seems that the edge would sna...

I pressed my first pair about a month ago, and tweaked different things for each ski. They both have the same core and sidecut profile, but I wanted to try a couple different things in the layup. They are a true 190cm ski with dimensions 128-103-118, a camber of 8mm, and the core is an array of 3/4&...

Finally got everything taken care of after a crazy month of job interviewing and school. First pair being pressed tonight with an aspen with 3 white ash stringers core. Also made enough core blanks for 9 pair with an all aspen core and aspen with two white ash boards cores. Pics to follow soon. --Ge...

Nice setup. Everything looks solid and well laid out. What kind of core materials/lamination, profile, sidecut, pressing time/pressure, etc. did you use? Also how did the propane heater work out for you? --Geoff

I was just wondering what sort of qualities one would look for in epoxy and if the stuff i am looking at will work. My skibuilding buddy has located a couple places US Composites (Kit Number: EPOX-635413 - $48): http://www.shopmaninc.com/epoxy.html Mr. Epoxy (Kit Number: POX35413 - $54) http://www....

First off, as mentioned earlier, how are you loading the beam in your calcs? Secondly, are you calculating the beam movement assuming it is fixed at each end with no support? My suggestion is go grab any mechanics of materials book and just do a simple hand calc. using the analysis of beams under co...

Geoff's Build

I just finished my press, first two molds, and core profiler. My materials are en route right now, so pretty soon I will have a finished product to share also. The mens mold is for a true 190 with dimensions of 125-100-115, and the womens is a 165 of the same width. The camber for my molds were buil...

Hose-Man, When you ordered your P-tex off the remnant roll, did you do so directly from Durasurf or through a local plastic supplier? I have been ordering Durasurf for a work engineering project and they told me they don't sell direct. Thanks for the great info and pics from your experience. --Geoff

I am using West Systems epoxy for laminated plywood runners on Komatik cargo sled I designed at work, and in talking to the engineers at West Systems they told me that overpressuring the laminated pieces is bad. A thin layer in between each piece is desirable as the modulus of rigidity doesn't chang...
