Nice pics and cores. Quick question. In the past I've always ripped 1/2" x X" and glued my cores one at a time. In the next 1-2 weeks I'll be making 5-10 pairs of cores in a similar manner to yours. Now for the question: How many clamps did you use when gluing up your big stack, and would ...

For the skwal I took a ski template (basically flat under foot for ~24" have to pull up the cad drawing for exact dimensions), and then had a linear taper from there. Basically I had a ski core already profiled when the request for a skwal came in, so I just added some width from a scrapped-out...

Thanks Deep. Sure is fun to build, but now I'm out of my core supply, so back to the first steps of ski building!

And lastly a skwal I did for a customer in Mammoth. It's basically a snowboard with ski dimensions (2.2-11-2.2). Super stiff with a layer of CF on the bottom and 13mm of camber. I'm waiting for feedback on the performance of this rocket. Top http://www.jekul.com/jekul.com/Customer_Rides_files/shapei...

Norsk Custom 2012/2013

It's been a long time since I posted some pictures of my progress. Pictures and short descriptions below for the last 3 pairs (same shape/profile) I've made. Experimental pair for my wife (lucky gal!) with a mosaic of repurposed (leftover) veneer pieces. http://www.jekul.com/jekul.com/Customer_Rides...

Great to know about replacing the brakes. I'll have to be very specific about which pair of skis I put them on. I have 5 pairs of the Axial II design and really like them, I can only imagine the Pivots work better.

I've been gluing paper to the top of my veneer topsheets after pressing. I follow that by 3-4 coats of polyurethane seal to make sure I get the UV protection and some added durability. Seems to look good and hold up very well.

Those looked like new Pivot bindings? How do you like them. I'm considering a pair late this year if I sell enough pairs of skis.

As far as twitch skiing switch...I'd try to tune the tails a little more and take them out.

I've used galvanized steel, anodized al., and bare al. I prefer the bare aluminum but didn't have an issue with any of the other materials.

I'm sure they did notice, and decided they wanted to make some money, which meant they couldn't throw away crap.

I still would NEVER put my name on something so crappy. Even if you sell it as a disposable ski. It will just give the rest of their line less credibility.
