sorry no real suggestions. I have only used it once but the finish was really good. I brushed it on let it set and wet sanded in between coats. Nice glossy finish on the top. Sidewalls are a different story.

I took a suggestion by Midnight in the CLR thread and used Max Seal Poly on a set of skis, veneer top and wood sidewalls. I stained the sidewalls first and then used the poly over top and sides. Finish looks great but after two days of my "sidewall bashing" nephew skiing them the poly is p...

I would try to be in as well, Home mountain is Magic. Could be a nice low key place to meet although it can't happen until they get snow and a working lift!

Super cool. The kids at my school would love this. Did you press full boards, edges, base, etc? Would the board stay to shape with just wood and Fiberglass? Trying to think of a way to do a bunch of them for cheap.

Camania, sorry for hijacking your thread, I hope you are getting the answers you need through all of this as well. Twizz The plan is to press 2 skis at a time. I am using a cat track. I inflatted the overlapped hoses this past weekend and all seemed OK, although I can't see the overlap under pressur...

Unfortunately, my new press which replaced a first generation quick cheap and dirty press, is not as wide as my original and the hoses are now too wide. 15" wide press space, 2x 9" layflat hose. My three options as I see it are: 1. buy new hose. 2. use one hose 3. overlap the hoses. Findin...

Are the adjustment bolts welded to the steel rails and adjustment is done at the nut on top and presumably below the table?

A great place I have found for scrap steel and some helpful steel manufacturing folks is Ceour D'alene metal in Spokane. They have a shop in Ceour D'alene as well but I don't know if they have a remnants shop in that location. They have been very helpful as I build my new press.

When you get the planer set up I'd love to see some pics. I've been trying to figure out a good way to use my hand planer to profile cores for a year now. I can't seem to get the adjustment right. what are you going ot mount the angle adjustment screw too?

What if I added a 3" strip of Carbon on top of an already pressed soft ski?

Skis are complete and are way too soft in the tip and tail. If I added a Carbon strip from binding to tip and binding to tail would I get the same effect?

First Pair Edge issues

I pulled my first two pair of skis out of the press this weekend. They look OK except for the edges. On the tip of one of the skis one of the edges pulled away from the ski. The edges were supposed to be full wrap with the seam at the tip. Is it a total loss or can I repair that? For now I trimmed t...
