you may want to get a plastic roller to roll out any air bubbles that may get stuck under the topsheet during the manual layup. The vacuum pressure is typically not sufficient to force these out but with a bit of patience and care you can get the topsheet to be just fine. I made one without a topshe...

in a follow up to a PM discussion I had with a member. Just curious to how the cordura presses are doing with regards to heat. Are the fabrics being exposed to heat and is it affecting them in any noticeable way? I am concerned about heating a cloth press with regards to damaging the fabric and thus...

ok, thanks guys. so it looks like the MEI blankets are the way to go in terms of durability and function. No need to re-tool the steel plate or mold to accomodate just slap it in and pump it up.. rather than spend almost as much on standard sized mats from a place like rsonline or the like and tooli...

thanks, I was wondering if they could deal with the load... Even if recessed the full area of the mats will take the majority of the pressure, although I think I will remain sub 4 bar for all the right reasons so perhaps... Unfortunatly I live in europe and makers of such mats are nonexistant or unc...

Placement of heating mats in a pneumatic press

Are you guys routing recesses in your molds to accomodate for the blanket? Are your mats holding up to the pressure of a full press?

Pretty much any "standard" epoxy will do but the characteristics can be helpful if understood. Heat curing is a big issue for those not willing to spend money on heat blankets and controllers so researching which epoxies cure at which temperatures may save you a headache. Post curing is al...

beware that the little cheap vac pumps may not be designed to run for hours on end. The use of a reservoir and a pressostat regulator switch can reduce the running of the pump. Joewoodworker has these and there are some other designs over at dream-models com/eco/vacuumpump.html
