foaming epoxy
Hi Montucky, I used foaming epoxy 20 years ago (its def epoxy and not polyurethane) to reinforce the polystyrene under footstraps on windsurfers we built. Its got a third additive that is called a "blowing agent" that makes it foam up to 8x its volume. Its got good compressive strength so ...

getting there slowly eh! Latest is a 990gram Super Tourer
Got some good stuff happening here, my Facebook page SPLITN2 has a new pair of sub 1KG 160cm Super Tourers. These pics were before final finishing , they will get a light gloss to tart them up a bit. Pretty stoked they came out so light, they will be tough but obviously there are limits. These still...

Hi, sorry to hijack but I was wondering if you guys can help me out? A wee while back I scored a Montana stone grinder robot for $100, its mint really, just the stone is munted. A new Montana stone is like $1500 or something here in NZ. Anyway I really would like it to be more like 160mm wide so I c...

I'll 2nd that Twizz!
Yep, My first pressing of ski's my camber was like 20mm, over twice what was expected. I discussed it with Brazen and the firs thing he asked was heat blanket top or bottom. I had it on the bottom. When I moved it to the top I got a real mellow camber in my next 2 pressings, sweet!!!!

Cedar because......
my mate makes wicked whitewater paddles with it! and I think a few guys use it for ski's/boards. Pros: 1. lightweight 2. cuts well with router and bandsaw 3. cedar is not gonna suffer too bad if it ever gets moisture in it as it doesn't deteriorate quickly Cons: 1. splinters hurt! 2. soaks up tons o...

core timber(s) used ???
Hi guys, I've successfully built 1 pair of ski's and 2 splitboards with cedar cores and ash sidewalls this season. I thought it would be handy espec for relative newbies like me to see a poll giving a rough indication of the core materials people are using. We can add timber variants to the poll if ...

Firstly, just want to say thanks to you guys , my first 2 splitboards and pair of ski's I built this year all turned out good, plenty of improvement possible of course but they all performed better than I expected for a noobie builder! 2 more splits being built now. My pics of my builds are on my fa...

ski press mods
yup this summer I am rebuilding my Ibeam press to includehinged end andrams, I have all the pneumatics so just need to get the steel turned in lathe and welded onto the existing short end beams to turn it into a hinge and joint, plus get some big pins cut. This will make life a lot easier for me, an...

sidewall materials
Hi fella's. My experience so far has been great, simple 3 layer wooden sidewalls made of ash, the first set of ski's I ever built did 30 days straight in the mountains touring and are good as gold still, without even a chance to waterproof them before they were on the snow as they were built in a me...

crystal glide wider stone needed???
Its a goodie all right, I will be modifying it with a wider stone than the 115mm stone its got, so I can do my split boards. Anyone got experience with this? Anyone know of any good stones going for a good deal? 3 phase power going in too which will be handy for a lot of gear in future so is all for...
