I have teak on some boards that I'm waiting to test when the snow starts to fly. Historically it was used for battleship decking in WW2. It also has a high silica content which gives it a fair amount of durability. It's pretty dense stuff, so make sure your tools are sharp. I think it would work wel...

I use poplar with ash stringers for the inserts and edge support. No need to get all complicated.

I had not thought of using the aluminum for the bridge. I dig the idea. What to you have shimmed under your router to get it traveling smoothly?

The aluminum angle was just handy at the time. I'm going to use round steel with threaded rod verticals. Thanks for looking out for me though. :)

Linear bearings

I'm making a new router bridge that, in theory, gets me accurate and repeatable cores. Something that has eluded me so far. Found some poor mans linear bearing that have the added benefit of being able to cope with elevation changes on the rails. My last one was made of wood and that would be fine i...

That still won't address your comment that you can rip your sidewalls off by hand with no effort. Fix that before you change up your tools! I'm reasonably certain it was a prep issue. Didn't flame it or anything. I was fairly satisfied with the poly glue except when the core got thin through the pl...

I'm building an improved router bridge. Should have some pics up in a few days. My last one was not well thought out although I liked the overall design. I also like the idea of faster "oh shit" reaction time.

Attaching sidewalls

I'm a big fan of the planer sled to profile my cores with one exception. The sidewalls keep blowing off and getting eaten. I've tried poly glue, and epoxy. Glue seems pretty good until I get to about 3-4mm thickness then it fails. Able to pull off the epoxied sidewall by hand with no effort. I also ...
