Re: Honeycomb core/Prepreg Film
You may have already gone the cheap route on this adventure... but you could always try tack gluing some craft paper over the top of the honeycomb? I'd try a small sample piece obviously, but it might do the job and would be a much easier "x" to throw into the mix.

Re: Acrylic painted artwork Q
You might have a look at Montana Colors spray paints... I've used them for other projects (not painting skis) but the literature on the Fiberglass Hawaii website (awesome resource) leads one to believe you might have some luck, and probably save yourself a few steps too. Hope this helps! From Fiberg...

Just wanted to add a little weight to what Shif and Falls have mentioned above. Having been at it for 15 years now, and having skinned the cat over and over again, I can wholeheartedly support their notion of matching forms and full-length hose "trapping". About 4 years ago (I think?) I st...

Re: Snappy or Poppy Skis
The obvious (sorry) answer might be to get your hands on some of the Head skis that you think meet the grade and peel those suckers apart. If you spread the word to your local shops that you're looking for one I bet it won't take you too long to get your hands on a broken ski. Or maybe just shell ou...

Hey, those look TASTY! I made a pair almost identical about 5 years back now and skied 'em till the wheels fell off. Looks like your underfoot bump stays within the width(s) of your tips and tails yes? If so... you're good. I found as an East Coast guy the bump added a lot of stability when traversi...

3-axis machine? For core tapering, I use a 3/4" diameter "Bowl & Tray" bit.

Hey Cadman... love the obsessiveness! 5D is one of the ridiculous industry names for modern shapes. Like an S7, classic DPS, etc... shapes with shorter running lengths, and longer tips and/or tails. I know that back in the early-mid stages of the telemark movement there was a lot of time spent playi...

There are a few things in your drawing that have me scratching my head just a bit (I like the look of the shape by the way, looks really nice). You have notations demarking; Running Surface, Length of Sidecut, and True Effective Edge. I'm imagining the Running Surface measurement is referencing your...

I've used the vector net in the past, and will in future builds as well. This version claimed to be CF, it sure seemed like it in my hand. I bought mine through these guys, US eastcoast: http://greenlightsurfsupply.com/products/surfboard-carbon-fiber-vectornet?variant=1052039071 I used it as a wrap ...

Renoun
The stuff in the Renoun skis is d30. Those Renoun guys are really cool, and the skis are nice too. We had a pair in the shop at Mad River Glen all year last season. Some folks loved 'em, others, eh... pretty much like every other pair of skis. Some folks were told about the special stuff inside, oth...
