The idea was to be able to get the board on edge easier as these are mostly ridden without bindings doing the powder surfing thing. Having the extra leverage point to lean it on edge also allows the boards to be quite a bit wider than usual. Keep the board short but don't lose much surface area, kee...

No CNC. Can't swing that high roller stuff. Things are pretty lo-fi as I'm working with %60 of an 8x12 un-insulated garden shed.

3-D base profiles

Been messing with some 3-D base profiles on some homemade sticks for the last couple seasons. Was wondering if any of you guys had some similar experiments, theories, drawings, proto's, etc. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RXpOl7NRTGg/TxdXanhDy6I/AAAAAAAAAIs/eXWu-qfd_Rk/s640/P1060253.jpg http://4.bp.blogs...

shopvac wrote:stellar. Maybe I am a little dense but was that a noboard? If so, that was amazing! Too bad you guys don't get any powder up there in Canada. ;)
The riding is all binding free(noboarding) by way of traction pads that mount to a splitboard. The snow quality up here is brutal. ;)

What's the waist? Looks like a stout little bugger. Looks like something along the lines of the burton nug. Respect for doing it in split form. Could be a deck that would be fun for binding free snow shredding.

Concave and Convex in the same stick

Seems pretty crazy. Apparently the construction is standard except for the orientation of the glass. Flex down convex, flex up concave. Wow.

Doesn't look like there is any recess to allow for the thickness of the cloth. Don't suppose it's needed.

$147!! Will it help with insert suck? The kevlar goes over the bottom of the t-nuts? What if I used glass and cut holes for the stem of the the t-nut to go through the cloth? Worth the effort, would I see much difference? I'm using spruce veneer, I believe it's sitka. Vertical grain, 1.2mm, and clea...

Insert suck

Built a board with a spruce core and I'm starting to get quite deep dimples under the binding inserts (binding suck). Starting on a second board and want to keep with the same core. Short of adding a hardwood strip to the core for the inserts do I have any other options? Add some glass above or belo...

Cool looking shape. Done one split with the entropy resin and it seems to be good stuff, might you I don't have the experience to say I've tried many different epoxies.

Process of hand finishing a base

Howdy,

Wondering what the usual sequence of events might be for hand finishing a base. My project has an intentionally contoured base so taking to the shop likely won't work. Belt Sander? Wet sand? What grits to start and finish at? Thanks.
