Ski Tuning
For any ski tuner DIYers here - what is needed for recreational level ski tuning? As I understand it, their are several basic steps: Sharpen Edges Polish Edges Apply Wax on Botton Remove Excess Wax Polish Wax I have three questions 1. Do you put on several wax coats (a base and a top, like surfing) ...

Wanted! Base/Edges/VDS/Binding Insert
If anyone has any extra base material/edges/VDS/Binding Inserts they want to get rid of, post here!
I need 400cm/160in of each (or 2 sets of 200cm/80in).
Also - I'm 30 miles North of San Diego so if your close that'd be preferable for cheap shipping.
Thanks!

Just profiled one core via planer method. It worked out really well on one side of the core (the shorter of the two - my binding area is off center) and OK on the other, I lost a good 10cm of length from chipping though. However, it wont be a problem as the cores are currently longer than the final ...

So do wooden tipspacers work? I'd do it out of Poplar. Also for wooden sidewalls and tipspacers, do you treat before press, after press and trim or both? And finally, can someone post a link to an alpine ski binding template? I've contacted a couple places but the kinda adressed me like a corporate ...

Core is laminated. Will have pictures shaped (and possibly profiled :D ) on monday or wednesday. I used titebond regular wood glue and it worked out fine. I bent the hell out of the wood and it didnt give where it was glued at all (and I'm no weakling - I play football). More force will probably be ...

Core is Laminated!
Wood is gluing overnight (9/21/06) and I'll plane and cut it off of the template tommorow. I'll post pic's of the core after it's shaped. A word of warnign to future builders: don't use a circular saw to rip the saw :? . I really wanted to get it cut so I didn't wait to use the table saw and paid th...

Lamination + tipspacers + rivets
SB.com mentions laminating with epoxy, but I'm used to laminating with wood glue for most projects. Is this a bad idea in ski construction? Has anyone tried it? And what about Gorilla Glue? This is just for core lamination - not layup. What about wooden tipspacers? I've got some extra poplar I'd lov...
