Nice Corellian Freighter Knights, but is she fast?

The next pair will have to make the lightsaber sound when they turn on.

A quick phone-shot vid exploring the darker side of skiing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP2XFSo7HVY I took them out earlier this week. Conditions were terrible and the skis didn't help. I had the hardest time not staring at the snow (ice chunks) underfoot. I can't wait for the next pair and some...

Snowsferatu - adventures in seduction and darkness

If you are getting rad and nobody sees it are you really getting rad?" I am only so rad but now I can make sure everyone sees me. PROGRAMABLE LED SKIS - The skis have led strips built into the ski during layup. An accelerometer/gyro lets them react to what you do. http://i649.photobucket.com/al...

Piezoelectric boot warmers!

I don't care if the light was a gimmick; I think it was ridiculous and rad.

I made a pair with vertically laminated cedar... Even with an extra layer of glass the bindings tore out before they touched snow. But they were nice and light. I like prefer spruce cores. I don't like the dust from bamboo; it is too itchy and seems to get past all my defenses. I use screw in-insert...

I've been using scraps of 3/32" and 1/8" UHMW. I abrade it with a sander and then flame treat. I'll take the 1/8" down to about 2.5mm or a bit less. Its a little thicker than the 2mm stuff but I actually like it better.

I pulled a new pair out of the press after some awesome morning turns. These guys come in at 182cm, 139-119-130, no camber and head banging rocker. They have bamboo cores and sidewalls and silk graphics. After the last pair I decided to make them a little softer. I also remembered to flame treat the...

I used VG bamboo for my last pair of skis. I over tightened one of the screws when remounting. The bamboo felt like it tore more easily than some of my other cores. It wasn't a problem though since I was replacing the screws with inserts. The inserts hold like a rock. I use Binding Freedom inserts. ...

I used to have a pair of bindings that had a switch that would adjust the stress on the ski. It would noticeably adjust the camber on the ski. With so many of the big boys incorporating bindings into the skis it seems like it should be a snap to have some sort of truss rod to adjust camber/rocker. I...

Despite what everyone says I like the search function on this forum. I tried to search for ‘shops.’ I am rearranging my shop and remember seeing a photo of someone’s tiny workspace but I found this thread instead. I may not have found what I was looking for but this is way better. I am quite profici...

I pick up the plastic for the topsheets in store. I just looked at their web page and didn’t see anything that looked like the stuff I get. They always have it in a display with some other HDPE sheets. They are $3.75/sheet. I cut one sheet lengthwise and then but the ends under the binding area. Tha...

The top sheet is some clear PE from Tap plastics. Its smooth on one side and textured on the other. I scuff it up a bit before layup to give it a little more grabbing power. I've used it in a bunch of skis so far and it holds up pretty well. It defiantly isn't as durable as the commercial top sheets...
