http://vimeo.com/73787088 Check out around 2:00, they are using a fibreglass tape as well. I just wasn't able to get good results with a packing tape. The outside of the tape would stay adhered, while the area directly over the joint would collect resin, leaving a crevasse too deep to take out with ...

I think your probably right, it does seem like overkill. I cut the base to shape and the router doesn't like having to cut through the fibreglass tape either. I have also tried packing tape on the running side to hold them in place, but resin "pooled" in the centre, leaving a dimple. No is...

No issues with the bond anywhere else other than where the tape was applied. The porous tape wets out well and goes totally opaque but ther...

I use yellow cedar in some capacity on all my boards, usually with fir and/or a hardwood. Nice tight "woven" grain, very strong but very light. You can bend the strips basically in half before they fracture, unlike red cedar which tends to be quite brittle. I really like how it rides as we...

Not sure if others have tried this... but I've had good results with hot glue and duct tape running the last 15 cms of sidewall. I think most of the problems come from the sidewall lifting off the crib and "vibrating" into the cutter heads.

Sammer - Congrats on the website! Cainguy - I'm also building boards out here on the Island, just outside the Comox Valley. I'd be happy to get you started with some board building supplies. Haven't got any bamboo (though I've been thinking about giving it a try), but I've got lots of other stuff yo...
