Space between molds

just seeing what everyone else has used for a space between the top and bottom molds. I was thinking around 2 inches max (I'm using 4" diameter hose) for all the materials and bladders. Anyone have an opinion on this?

what if I put the whole press in a big oven?

haha, I'm off to get some stuff so I can hopefully finish up the molds this weekend/the next week or two. Then I can start playing with the whole process.

ya, so the blanket is the expensive part.

would a couple space heaters positioned near the press make much of a difference? it's not going to be direct heat, but it might very well heat up the stuff a bit.

from what I know, HDPE does not bond with epoxy at all. That may cause some problems.

Printing Templates

I thought I had a genious idea last night. I realized oyu could just buy a roll of fax paper (50 feet long) and then just tell the printer to printer to a set length for templates. Hell, I'd done it before when printing to a PDF, so it would work right? WRONG. The bastards who make printers limit yo...

what does the weight of the fiberglass effect? would a 'heavier' one be stiffer? I'm sure I can find out tons about it talking with people, just wanna get a sense of it if you know.

What is ideal for the 'weight' of the fiberglass? I have a friend who is working with me, and his father is involved with some fiberglass companies, so he can get us pretty much anything at a good prices.

Triaxial braid, and what else should he be looking for?

for the valves, look at the 'bladder construction' thread, they talk about them in there.

as for the hose, 9 cm flat is not enough at all, unless you want skis that are like.... 50-60 mm thick (rough guess).
