Do any of you guys have trouble getting shops to work on your stuff? Hey there, There happens to be a tuner at Sports Traders in Vic that has been a tuner for race teams in Atlantic Canada. Mark only works Saturdays and Sundays as he is an apprentice where I work during the week. He has knowledge o...

SnoCad

I've been messing around for a while and can't get SnoCad working.
I haven't used it since before Christmas sometime so maybe I missed something.
Has anyone else had trouble with it?

Thanks

Thanks MU.
I wanted to keep the sidewalls as wide as possible to try to improve the torsional rigidity on such a wide ski.
I'm not worried too much about water absorbtion. No end grain will be exposed and I will seal what is exposed.

I got the cores profiled last night. The planer rig worked really well. (thanks for the idea Falls) I used the same dowel holes as I used for the templates to locate the cores and only needed some two sided tape to hold the very end of the tip/tail down. The end result is 2.5-12.5-2.5 Now for the ti...

JT's Skis

Well I thought since I had made some progress, however slow, I would move this from the the "design" thread. Ill paste the last post from the other thread and then update. :) From Dec 6 2012; Well I finally got the cores finished to the stage of profiling them using the planer. As has been...

Well I finally got the cores finished to the stage of profiling them using the planer. As has been mentioned it hasn't happen unless there's photos so here you go. I sawed the bamboo into 1/2" strips and then ran them through the planer to 7/16" http://imageshack.us/a/img69/774/img3707dt.j...

How about using a hydronic system. I did one in the house I built.

It's easy and the pex tubing is rated for 180F @ 100psi.

Maybe you could heat the form???

Thanks Redmond I like the square tail best too. And thanks Falls for the info. The bamboo is verticalll laminated and is 3/4" x 5 1/2" x 8'. Is marking one face of the boards before the are ripped goood enough for orientation? or do they need to be numbered for some reason? Since the board...

SD, Sorry for the ignorance but if by stringers you mean how many pieces in the lamination of bamboo it will be 6. they are roughly 5/16" each. I purchased some dimensional bamboo lumber and will be ripping and jointing it to the thickness I need. I may have to rip two pieces for each side to g...

So here's the idea I had for the core. As some have stated the wider the ski the more torsional rigidity is required to help it handle on firmer snow. I always keep thinking of the video I mentioned further back in the string of Elan (I think) ripping the cores down the middle. They then put both ha...

Even if thre were multiple supports along the frame, as some have done, to reduce deflection of their "beams", the danger of using that material is too great. A railroad track section is like this a big spring....always moving under pressure (work hardening)....with catostrophic results wh...
