Re: Its so silent

I am sooo happy to see the list of names that appeared in this thread. I'd taken a few years off and came back to an empty room. The fb group drives me bonkers. So many people are looking for a quick answer "I just bought my snowboard press, where do the blankets go?" and there's not a gre...

Re: UV print and epoxy?

There were a couple companies doing this a few years back. It seems to have gotten more prominent. I've looked into this a few times over the years and haven't found a cost effective solution. Note in the video, they are printing a base, inside, and then whitewash it. Miller studios used to offer ep...

Re: Core splitting

I'm troubled by the split. Ayous is a new wood to me, but it shouldnt be splitting like that. It's almost like a drying stress from green wood. You could try to fill in with glue but i'd be worried whatever caused it to crack in the first place. If you've got panel clamps or can re clamp, i'd get th...

Re: SnoCad Mixed Camber Design

This one is a little tough. 1 has been debated seriously on here in the past. Best defense of your take is that the lunch trays can stack. 2. I'd ditch snowcad for camber profile. Just punch stuff into a spreadsheet, do like 10 points straight lines between. you dont notice the straight lines 3. not...

Re: Snowboard setback and camber dimensions

TBH, there is no normal. And it varies with board length and so many things. Just start measuring every board you find and get a feel for it. The range is prob 2-8mm from little to a lot for a 155cm ish board.

Its been 5+ years since ive used that program. Sounds like your machine might not be recognizing the file extensions. I'm wondering if your unzipping process its wrecking the extensions somehow. Post a screen shot of the file/folder and extensions?

Re: split before or after base grind

Beautiful board. Nice work.
100% agree with Tom's comments so far.
One thing-- if you have any warp in your base side to side, cutting down the middle would help limit the amount of material you need to get it flat.
Generally-- if you like your result, i'd say roll with your process.

Re: Acrylic painted artwork Q

I would think that the epoxy on the top veneer, sanded with 220 grit or similar would be a nice primer for adhesion. I will say though-- i had a past bad experience with putting a rattle can acyrlic on top of the wood, and then applying the PU clearcoat. I tried everything-- clear adhesion promoters...

Re: Acrylic painted artwork Q

Woof sorry-- i've not been on top of posting here. So what i'm working on here on this particular project may or may not be applicable.I've been making a batch of 4 of kids boards, 80cm, and two of these have been used to work on some rattle can, hydrodip, swirl coat process dev. So what i'll show h...

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log

That sounds like a lot of smoke from your vac pump. You should include a needle valve so it doesn't pull so hard. ^What he said. The way i typically see this done is that there's a cross fitting going into the pump from the bag. T-d in there is a vacuum gauge and a bleeder valve. You shouldnt need ...

Congrats an your first build!

It might be helpful if you shared a few more details regarding the design, process, and any issues you're trying to work with. How'd it go? Anything that makes you ask the question? maybe even a photo or two? I'm not sure i understand your question just yet.

Re: Acrylic painted artwork Q

Experiments ongoing! Working with a couple short kid sized decks on some swirl coating on topsheet after layup, which is its own challenge. I'll get some posts up in coming weeks. One thing I'll say is that montana has a variety of colors, and they've actually been emailing back and forth with me pr...
