From what I understand the negative waxless bases glide a little better and the positive ones grip somewhat better. Neither is going to grip as well as a skin. The waxless pattern is only used on the area under the foot known as the kicker region (that is why they call those skins kicker skins). The...

Can a room temperature curing epoxy be mixed with a higher temperature epoxy on prepreg fibers and still work? I have access to some prepreg with a fairly high cure temperature but no heated press. I would be open to any suggestions on how I could make the prepreg work without applying heat if that ...

If you want specifics on TITINAL composition here is the data sheet I found on their website. There is no titanium in the alloy. If you want a look at the original document then check out the link from the links page on this site. The phosphoric acid anodization is important because that allows the ...

alternate tipspacer materials

I'm wondering if anyone has used a harder rubber as a tipspacer. A material like that would decrease stresses between composite layers. The only disadvantage I can immediately think of is that it might not be good for resisting cutting damage or if it were too flexible and didn't protect the top and...

littleKam Do you use the same thickness p-tex on the topsheets as you do on the bases or do you order another sheet of a thinner material? Also what thickness of material do you get for sidewalls and tipspacers? I was thinking about 1/2" thick sheets for sidewals and 2-3 mm for tipspacers. Does...

materials

I'm curious about material suppliers other than SBM due to the fact that many of the materials they offer are currently out of stock. People have mentioned CDW for edges and VDS foil. Can materials be recived from them in a reasonable amount of time? In another thread there was some mention of takin...

I haven't worked with composites much but the one type of prepreg I've worked with needed heat for the epoxy to cure. You would have to research what temperatures the epoxy they put on the fibers cures. I guess if you have a heated press you would be able to work with a wider variety of epoxies.
