FS: ski press and other equipment in Webster, NH for pickup
Unfortunately, the skibuilding hobby is over for me (for now anyway) because my condo in Frisco, CO has no space for this sort of hobby! so, I'm selling my equipment which is located in Webster, NH to anybody with $150 who wants to pick it up. included: press bladders box for the camber mold top mol...

Startup Ski Summit - anybody here going?
Is anyone from the site planning on going to the elevate co space summit in Frisco this Friday? I figured it'd be fun to go, even though I'm not starting a business. Maybe I'll see some of you there.
Cheers

thanks guys! Unfortunately, there was a bit of core shift on these, and the next pair... only on one ski per pair. I think they still look pretty nice though, and they'll probably ski alright which is the most important bit. When I get back to building I'll have to set up a better core positioning s...

pair # 9
so I've had some Walnut (6/4) laying around for a little while, and it looks so nice that I've wanted to use it in a ski with no topsheet. The last two pairs I'll finish up before heading west used it. I used Aspen as well because it was available, and I like the color contrast: http://i941.photobuc...

Let us know how the copper sticks. I tried working with it awhile ago and had a heck of a time getting it to bond permanently. Once the flexing started the bond would break away ever so slightly and then you could easily pull it away. But with a small accent like that perhaps you won't get the rang...

Nice looking skis. You can make your own copper patina with some amonia and salt in a sealed container. Lots of other patina recipes on the net if you search. Thanks! I will patina my own going forward. If the copper patina in these skis peels away I can fix it with my own! I just pulled the pair o...

moving west! any ski builders in / around summit county CO?
Hey all, I'm writing because in a few short months my wife and I will be heading west to Breckenridge CO for at least a year. We're selling our house and packing it up for a sweet change of pace. I'm pretty sure I have a boot fitting job lined up which I'm psyched about because it'll give me an oppo...

the copper veneer from veneer supplies is coated with wax, no bueno for bonding. You can only get the larger sheets without wax. I used to use heptane or hexanes to get mineral oil off of round bottom flasks. Maybe mineral spirits followed by acetone after a gentle heating will remove the wax... Th...

If the epoxy you are using is liquid enough, just coat it with epoxy. I will do that, I think MAS is liquid enough, but I have a new problem... The center of the table is more than 1 mm lower than the sides due to a small amount of droop in the MDF. My manifold is pretty low but I need to reinforce...

Have you sealed that mdf with something? MDF is so porous it can be used on a vacuum table without grooves or holes. You will be losing a lot of vacuum through the sides of you mdf if you don't seal it up well. I have found the coated mdf used for cupboards and stuff is goid for vac tables I painte...
