How are you intending to apply it? I built one pair of skis with a clear topsheet over the veneer and had problems with air bubbles and resin buildup under the topsheet. This is probably because I use vacuum, and not a top press, so the topsheet was pressed down onto the mould resulting that the re...

Duravision 5050 as Veneer protection

Hello guys, On the last boards that I built I used a wood veneer as topsheet, on the pro's side I found that it's really easy to work with and very cheap also. But on the dark side it's kind of fragile on the sidewall edges :( So I'm thinking getting a roll of Duravision 5050 to give a little more s...

Got my new planner

Hello guys, I am kind of having the same concerns about jigs. We got our new planner a few months ago, a really powerfull machine (check it out: http://www.casadasserras.com.br/plaina-desengrossadeira-larg-400-mm-baldan-cod-dgr-4-tr/p), but still trying to figure out the best way to work with it. I'...

LPU from System 3 dries clear, not cheap, around $60 a quart. Dries extremely hard and dries quickly. Apply 3-4 thin coats. You can also use automotive clear coat spray. Clear top sheets can be expensive and some are not real clear to begin with. Keep it simple for the first handful of skis. Keet i...

If you're feeling real brave... I did some experiments with plexi-glass and acetone. It's in the forum somewhere. Not exactly sure what kind of plexiglass it was but it's the material used in screen doors, could have been a poly-carbonate.... Anyway, acetone melts the plexiglass. You could try coat...

You mean no top sheet at all?
I was thinking in using screen printed graphics and another layer on top of that.
So you say press with fabric on top and then varnish once removed from the press?

True... I was seduced by the idea of having UV treatment but yes, it's way to thick.

What about PET?

Polycarbonate top-sheet

Hi, has anyone tried using polycarbonate as a top-sheet? I've found a local supplier in my place that has 1,5mm thick UV treated clear polycarbonate sheets. I found a couple posts saying PC bonds as well as ABS (or little better), so guess it could be a solution. Any suggestions? Thanks for your tim...

Awesome, thank you all again! What about temperature... any problems with heat blanket?

Pretty sure that the valve thing won't be a big deal but... any advice?

Getting closer...

Just found this today. It's heavy duty reinforced PVC hose, almost doubles the thickness of the previous posted. Kind of not as flexible as the blue one, but I guess it won't be a problem with a cat-track. http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x153/aguspagano/IMG_20141112_175638_zps33d51dfd.jpg What do...

Found this, will it work?

Hi, I'v been doing a different research and found this on a rubber products store... 5'' fabric reinforced PVC layflat hose. It has a working operation pressure of 4 kg/cm2 (56 psi). It's pretty inexpensive, like US$7 a feet. Do you guys think this will work? http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x153/...
