I was four days skiing.. Yeah I'm ski builder :D. Both pairs worked well; slopes are quite steep and I could ski with full speed on the edge; the edge grip was nice and the skies worked well from ice to smelted snow. The first pair 190 cm / 111 mm r28 100% aspen core 2-11.7-2 mm The second pair is 1...

I don't know anything about snow boards, but what I know is that you should follow the ideas these guys have. I did that and both of the skies I have build works just fine. I would have make the first pair far too stiff. There is enough challenges in building work even though it is quite simple.

As novice..would it help using other Wood? I made my first skies 2-11.7-2 those are 111 mm in the middle and 190 cm. Light tip rocker, not very stiff but enough torsion. The tip part is soft.. I like to ski in soft snow works also in piste some how.

They look pretty sexy! Thanks..Test ride today. As such short 176cm skies are easy to ski. There was lot of loose snow as temperature was above freezing. Skies worked well, even though I'm not happy about quality of veneer surface. With two skies experience it feels that core made of aspen feels &q...

I have a lathe and drilling a hole and making a tread should not be a very big work. Lets see.

Besides this is hobby, as my wife said to me when I told that I will make a pair of skies:" I don't expect that making skies will cheaper than bying but I know that it is good for your brains."

Veneer in other ski is not nice. Good thing is that the base is nice & flat. I will make a test run today. Rosewood veneer.

What sort of temperature is your epoxy / workshop? In winter when the cellar is a little cold, I pre warm my epoxy by sitting it above the heater for up to an hour before using it. Makes everything much easier... It flows easier for measuring / dosing, and spreads easier in the cloth. Also penetrat...

The first ski is very bad, there is lot of waves on the veneer, I think that one reason was that epoxy was quite cold and it was turn to solid. I warm up epoxy to the next ...

If surface of veneer is not flat but it is with big & small waves is it usable? Will it be flat in vacuum? Answer: Are you stupid or what, it is usable. Just soak the veneer with epoxy and let it stay for a while. Remove all loose epoxy and put it on the skies. If you leave lot of epoxy to vene...
