This is a great way to make sidewall units for use in any shape core. We used to epoxy up multiple 30 -34 mm strips of pe to 5 mm pieces of ash or poplar with a piece of VDS in between. We would make up dozens of these units and put them in the racks for future use. It is now easier to use the press...

veneer tops

We use the Alpi composite veneers for most of our skis so I guess we have already compensated for core thickness buy having it in the system and much trial and error.. We feel that it adds a more beefy, damp feel to the ski and not a noticeable amount of stiffness. However, on one set of skis that wa...

We use nordic binding screws for any tele binding set up that has not been set up with inserts. They can be hard to get sometimes, but given your Scandinavian location you should have it easier. The fins are much wider than standard. Be aware that if your skis have metal in them you wil need to dril...

Sand with 60 to 80 grit alum oxide belt sander. Flame treat. Epoxy to 5mm by 30 mm ash strip with vds in between wood and PE. Usually make...

The black layer between sidewall and core is VDS. This was shown in some Icelantic video or print. I have been using this method for a year now with improved bonding results and has elliminanted any failure during profiling. I can not tell if it affects dampness or not.

I am with Idris and Vinman solutions. We hot glue the core down at tip and tail along with 2 cm by 10 cm strip of wood also hot glued parallel and extending past the end of the core. We also allow extra length and then trim after profiling. Good Luck.
