Re: Getting a printer for sublimation...

Hi everyone,

I would like to take this topic up again. What are the printers (and ink systems) to consider in 2024 for topsheet/base sublimation?

many thanks,
Fred

Re: Its so silent

I'm more working on CNC stuff than actual building currently. I bought one of those cheap Chinese 6040 CNCs for learning. Currently cutting ribs on for new tip/tail blocks and enhancing the machine with limit switches, lighting for the spindle, etc.

Re: New press bladder design

you also might want to put a small piece of the hose outside the outermost screws, to prevent deflection:

Re: UD Carbon strings on a carrier foil

concerning UD carbon reinforcements, what are you putting into boards and skis in general? For my last board, I purchased 300gm carbon band, 5cm wide that I wanted to put in as V in the tip and tail areas. During lay up, I realized that since the carbon was quite thick, it would probably leave ugly ...

Re: Methods to keep core/ base still during press.

yep, worked out fine. The masking tape left minimal dents in the base, but I'm sure they'll be gone after grinding. I was pressing at 3.5 bar/50 psi (one big hose, no cat track). Is that too much? In general, it's probably good practice to bring all layers (base, topsheet, glass, core) to the same d...

Hi Reto,

really, really nice, both of the boards! Where did you get the top sheets printed?

best regards from Bern

Re: Methods to keep core/ base still during press.

Hi pmg,

That's good advice, thanks!
I'll probably go for something like Tesa 50600 masking tape, which is high-temperature, only 0.08mm in thickness and should have residue-free removal properties.

Re: Methods to keep core/ base still during press.

Hi guys, Since I have poured PU sidewalls and therefore have wood core outside of the sidewalls, I was considering to do the following: I have attached scrap base material pieces around the edges with tape. The base material pieces and the core have holes and marks for proper alignment (I might have...

Re: hydraulic ski press

well, I'm just about to finish my own press, I don't need another one currently :). The price is ok (ca 5'400EUR/6'000USD plus VAT and shipping) and the seller might accept offers (if it's still available), as it has been on the web for quite a while. But I would probably be somewhat concerned about...

Re: The pouring urethane sidewall thread

yep, four minutes go really fast. Next time I will need something or somebody to give me split times. the supplier rates the viscosity with 600-900mPas. For comparison, Erapol CC60D is rated with 4500mPas (like Honey or Syrup?), Smooth-Cast 305 with 80mPas (like Olive oil). You have the experience t...

hydraulic ski press

Hi,
I found the pictures below of a press up for sale. I post it since it is quite different to what you see normally, in terms of hydraulic cylinders position (vertical vs horizontal w/ linkage)

Hi, please find below two links to presentations from Mathieu Fauve, Head of R&D at Stoeckli Ski. The slides contain some info and measurement results for designing race skis. http://conferences.innosquare.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Conferences/JT/JT2016/PRESENTATIONS/FAUVE_Stoeckli_Swiss_Sports_...

Re: The pouring urethane sidewall thread

For completeness sake, I just wanted to add my results, since I use a product not mentioned before. I used Xencast PX90 (90 Shore A hardness), distributed through www.easycomposites.co.uk. I sealed the channel with one layer of epoxy resin, however tests with an untreated test channel on the same co...
