The way I understand it, it is a fake granite. More of a composit like the fake granite countertop.. It sounds like a good marketing job and not a technical advancement.

The Scottybobs have been Manufactuered by different manufacters almost ever year. I would bet that the limited few that are producted in their Silverton factory are the ones which hold their camber. Last year they started making them in China and I think next year they will be made in China again.

Scottybobs skis have a patent on their design. I would bet with a little research you could find prior art of this design invalidating the patent.

Cadman wrote: They used to machine the camber into the cores which was more expensive since they had to use a thicker blank. It made good sense due to the fact that the fibers were all in a relaxed state before you flexed the ski.

I read something about this somewhere once, I thought it was here. I don't remember the details but one of the mass produced ski companies puts the camber into the core before they lay it up. The result is more pop and a ski that hold camber better.

Would you consider a Cedar Core

Cedar cores were once used in surfboards, I was told and they are still used in hand made boats. Zia skis uses them and says they light and responsive.

What do you think? Would you use a Cedar Core?

Thanks for the update. I guess they just introduced it at the show this week. I would think the granite would be more about marketing and less about preformance.

On their website you can see photos of each layer being added to their ski. Maybe next years models will have granite. Of intrest is their use of cedar as t...
