The ski is a fully symmetrical sidecut, it is 117-87-117, twin tip, it is 175.5 cm long, and im curious as to what the recommended profile would be for this ski.

Park Ski Core Profile and Camber Question

I'm a student for Hadley, and I am building a pair of park skis, so they are a little bit thinner than the skis done before, but I was wondering if anybody knew how thick the profile of the skis should be? Any help would be appreciated

A light wide early rise trail breaking ski

This is the third set of skis I have made for myself with an focus on back country. The first pair I built in 2008 with the help of the information learned at skibuilders.com. New fiber reinforcemet, looks promising!

I don't have any of this to try yet, but I heard about it through other composite projects. My first internet research suggests it is light and reasonably priced. It is also strong and bonds well. Makes me think of back country ski layup. High-modulus polypropylene fiber, aka Innegra. Big article ab...

New replacement for fiberglass, has anybody tried this

This looks interesting for back country skis. I did a search and found some very interesting looking results. low weight and cost with high strength and good bonding. Dang High-modulus polypropylene fiber, aka Innegra. Big article about it in the latest(dec 09)composites tech mag and how it is alrea...

Removable Formica

We have a solution for a removable formica mold cassette. We use a vaccume press and a veriable geometry profile table. we were having problems with the formica not conforming to the press. Our solution was to take a couple boards perhaps one inch by half inch and sandwitch the formica. this creates...

Vaccume Bag Flat Base

Hi All: I have made several skis and snowboards now using a vaccume press and am coming up with great skis, but two main problems. First, my bases are not perfectly flat. I am using formica with Chemlease for my bottom surface. This sits on my profile table. the problem is that my basses still are t...

Well that settles it! I will press this week without tip and tail spacers. I am using a simulated cap constrution with Vacuum. I will expect a little extra loss of camber and shoot high with the tip and tail.
Thanks all.

Rice Paper

Is there a certain type of rice paper necessary for laser printing graphics? We have tried just normal laser printing onto paper but it cause delamination. Can we use any type of rice paper of is there a certain type that works best?

Can I skip tip/tail spacers on early rise ski...

I am doing a pair of skis with an early rise. This results in a very gradual tip rise that the wood will conform to. Usually I use the tip and tail spacers to deal with the quick rise. However, I imagine the spacer gives superior durability if hit hard. I am tempted to skip the spacer all together. ...

I am a Material Science teacher. We build this kit. It is really slick and uses vaccume infusion. You don't have to touch the resin. The resin is polyester instead of epoxy and is thinner. http://www.fiberglasssupply.com/html/schools_home.html

snowcad x: Need base profile

Snow CAD X is working great, but what do I need to do to make it draw the base without the metal edges. Do I really have to redraw it 2mm less to approximate the base shape? I figures the base shape would be one of the shapes that can be easily printed out???
Thanks in advance

Thanks for all the responces.

Since I am a woodshop teacher and every kid wants different lengths and chamber geometry I think I will contact sement the formica to a center piece of 1/4 inch mdf. This will sit on my larger mdf table that has the predetermined chamber profile set. I have already made tip and tail forms to be able...
