Looking for Vacuum Press Setup

Hey everyone. I am looking to get a vacuum press setup for future builds. Does anyone have a working vacuum press setup that they don't use anymore that they would be willing to sell? If so let me know pump specs, what else is included (pump, gauges, controller, bagging materials, etc.) and how much...

Re: Doing things on the cheap

Just rode this board and put up a post on that here http://www.skibuilders.com/phpBB2/view ... 13&t=5421

TLDR : I'm really happy with how it rides and will try to solve the flaws in the build so it lasts for a while.

Winter Solstice - Orbit 164 - First Board

So my first board is completed and got its first test run last weekend. My expectations were fairly low due to a few issues with it. The base wasn't flat, even after a grind (in hindsight it could have take a lot more base grinding). There was a dry portion from the layup that had me worried about d...

Re: Doing things on the cheap

Pulled my board out of the press this weekend and I'm pretty happy with the results. I have a few issues but nothing that will make it unrideable. The result out of the press. The white stuff on the bottom is wax paper (which was my mold release)and the board released perfectly. The bottom of the bo...

Re: side wall delamination

I'm new as well so i might not be the best resource. I had a similar problem using a router jig on my core. Recently i have been thinking about this problem and i have a theory about this. If you watch a cnc router profile a core it cuts the center and then runs in a slowly increasing perimeter cut ...

Re: Doing things on the cheap

So the epoxy I got was from SnowboardMaterials.com and came as a single use kit. I pretty much just trusted it and went for it. There are some big tanks in the background of some of my shots. The farmer who owns this shop (super nice guy) runs an oil recycling business and those oil tanks in the bac...

Re: Doing things on the cheap

Thanks for the tips. I suppose that makes sense with the pot life. It still felt fine at the end of the layup so i wasnt too concerned. I am scared of the tapering but rabbeting worked fine with my temporary router table even with thin tapered ends. I thought about doing the rabbet pre tapering but ...

Re: Ghetto Tips & Tricks

I just did a giant post about my first build thus far. Most won't read it I expect. During this I needed a router table and didn't have one so I made one out of MDF, wood screws for a fence, and a standard plunge router. Used it to do the rabbet over the edge and VDS. Worked perfectly. https://farm8...

Doing things on the cheap

This is my journal on my build thus far. It is a serious wall of text. The TLDR is that I will pull the board out and finish it this weekend. The weekend following I will ride it. I will update after finishing and after first ride. Unlike many on this site I did not sit on the idea of making a snowb...

Re: How Long To Press Skis with No Heat

I used the snowboard materials epoxy and it is designed for room temperature. It was the only ski/snowboard specific epoxy I could find. Even at that it requires 8 hrs for pressing and recommends 24 hrs. Err on the side of caution.

Re: How Long To Press Skis with No Heat

I just pressed my first board (unheated as well). I used the snowboard materials epoxy to do it but it is intended to be pressed at room temperature. It needed to be pressed at room temp for 8 hours but recommended 24 hrs. Then most people suggest waiting 6 more days (a week after pressing) to cut i...
