Re: Newbie needs some guidance

I learned the basics from watching the very comprehensive how to video guide on https://boardcrafter.com/ . I think its a 12 or 13 part series, focused on snowboards, but the process would be the same for skis. Watch those and you'll get a feel for what tools you would need. Definitely recommend rea...

Re: Vacuum Press

My compressor is a 60 gallon 5hp Ingersoll Rand that is 18 cfm at 90psi. I would think that would be enough? My real concern is pressing with 2.5 psi less than sea level. My only options for my first few boards is vacuum or a double sandwich press with a ton of pipe clamps? Not sure which one would...

Re: Need help with kid snowboard

1/3 the stiffness for 1/3 the rider makes sense to me. But scaling dimensions is not the only means to get there, plus it runs you into insert problems like mentioned. If I may nerd out a little bit, allow me to reference beam theory. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bending_stiffness Let's assume your...

Re: Need help with kid snowboard

I would guess 4-5mm for core thickness. For reference I am 215lb and ride a board with a 7mm poplar core. I would also explore using a softer wood, too. I think some kids boards may even have partial foam cores.

Re: Here we go- Another ski press build thread

This is great. I'm researching in preparation for a press build of my own and I'm glad I saw this before shelling out money on steel beams and aluminum cat tracks.

Have you encountered a problem making your own skis? If so, how did you fix it?
