I guess just to play with different structrual patterns. With lasers your only limited to your imagination.
You could even etch a picture of your kids on there... if it made you go faster! LOl!

we gave it go with vertical strips of g-10. The first ski had 4 full length strips, could barly flex the ski! Second had two full length near the edges. See pic. This ski was AWESOME!! The skis even survived being strapped to the back of a tomahawing snomo! Third ski, we did three strips. Skied ok, ...

so the two different lasers out there, that im aware of are "yag or fiber" and "co2" The "yag or fiber" use led light. they cannot cut plastic. The "co2" can cut metal, plastics and wood. We have a 1.5kw co2 in our metal fabrication shop. we can cut up to 1/2&...

ive used precured on the base side, cut to fit inside the edge tangs. this way there is no need to rabbit the core. to answer your question about weight, ive ripped apart some skis to test bond strength. out of curiosity i weighed the triax that came out of the ski. Im with the DR. on this one. Ive never had to reflame uhmw base or tip fill either, just a good alcohol cleaning. Never had any delam issues. But beware!!... the white polyester (without fleece backing) or clear topsheet thats been corona treated... thats got a shelf life of only about a year! I use...
