Sweet, I appreciate it though it turns out I have to leave on Thurs or Fri as my first day is the day before Thanksgiving. Though My friend (also from Bedford) whom I am working with on this project may be inerested in stopping by, this works out as he works with CAD stuff at his job.

I will be in Bedford (not New Bedford) for a little while longer (before spending the winter in CO). Would you be able to help me make a template to router pieces to make the bottom part of a ski press? It dosen't have to be a fancy material, just durable to survive the trip unwarped. Thank you much...

Thats Awesome!!
Im really intrerested in how they ski, they look like a lot of fun. A comparison between the "stiff upper lips" and those should be interesting.

Does the camber in the mold still have to be exagerated in the heated press? I remember reading that previously you were loosing about 10mm of camber.
Thanks,

Im thinking that the sidecut should extend beyond the toepiece then curve outward in a smooth profile similar to a sine wave. Something like using the same radius for both profiles. It will be interesting to see where this leads.

My 2 cents

I feel that the idea has promise, I have a theory that if the surface area on the base of the ski was split evenly between the concave and convex sidecut sections it would be more stable. I still am undecided as to where is the best place for the midpoint between the two "halves" should be.

I checked with someone...

I contacted a manufacturer (the first on a google search of silicone heat blankets) if they would work between 50 and 100 psi. He says that as long as the pressure is even it would work and they seem to have a well thought out temperature control setup. Hope this helps.

How do you suppose they do this?

Here http://www.lineskis.com/rd/index.php they show a ski being in the press for less than 20 min - true it is heated but are there other factors that would be easily brought to the home workshop?

Thanks guys

Do you think the weavy sidecut is just a fancy way of saying that the sidecut progresivley gets shorter? I have heard that is one of the new trends and I was also curious as to how that would affect skis. the scotybob is patented as I learned when I was in their shop (very nice people) so I was hopi...
