Re: Acrylic painted artwork Q
For ski/snowboard applications i can’t yet say about the robustness, but we’ve used it for motorcycle tanks a lot and for that it is just fantastic. My worry was that it would be too hard and not be able to handle the flex, but got confirmed that other people have used it with good results. I’ll giv...

Re: Acrylic painted artwork Q
so talked to some people on the snowboard builders fb group and got verified that the Spraymax 2K Clear Coat will hold up to the flex of the board/ski. i've used it previously on acrylic colors and it leaves a great finish that you can polish to incredible shine if you want. i'm gonna give it a go. ...

Re: Acrylic painted artwork Q
Finally got around to testing this. The Montana cans (MTN94) are dissolved by the polyurethane. I’m glad i didnt take for granted that they would hold up to it, but did a test first. Now i’m back to square one. I’ve got a board with a veneer top sheet that need painted artwork. I cant get ahold of t...

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
so i got to pressing the board this weekend. wen't well until one (out of two) dowels (for guiding/keeping core in place) came off the base. i had some reference points so i could put it in place by measuring, but got a bit hairy. since i was worried it had shifted (and it's a splitboard) i immediat...

Re: can i fix messed up core?
i filled it up with microballon expoxi putty and it seem to have worked fine. haven't gotten to re-profile the core yet but should work fine.
thanks everyone for your ideas!

Re: split before or after base grind
just pulled my split out of the press. i only recessed the outer edges and not the inside ones. however i used very soft woods in my core (poplar and paulownia) so my base came out very flat. you can however tell on the top surface that the centerline of the based hast lifted slightly. i will make a...

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
Ah ok got it.
I’m not using a heat blanket, just putting a box on top of the vacuum press and a heater inside.
Thanks for the ideas, appreciated!

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
great ideas chrismp!
i think i'll go for silicone in the inserts.
as for locating them, do you mean to still add the magnetic tape to create the "bump" which the pencil will trace on paper?

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
so, got a little bit of work done after a christmas break. built the press and got all the materials prepped. IMG_0191.jpg I only have two things left to decide; 1. decide how to cover the M5 inserts (for the split clips) to prevent resin from getting in there while pressing. I thought about supergl...

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
Honestly dude i’m not sure it would be worth it in the long run. I’m only building a few boards per season and i kind of like the challenge in the build. But i’ve only ridden one split with magnetraction on the inside and we had a bunch of new snow so didnt really get to try it out. I guess in my ca...

Re: Obygden Teknologi - s02
Yes its pretty much a mind expander. I was going to get one actually but didn’t like the full rocker profile. So decided to make my own but with added camber. I’ll go with some grinding for sure. Its just bugging me to find out how the big players are doing it. Anyways, got more challenges ahead wit...

Obygden Teknologi - s02
hey guys, completed my first build this spring after reading up on things on here for a couple of months. got to ride the first board (splitboard) and found that it actually performed (!) which led me to build a couple more. started from scratch on a completely new design. it's intended to be lightw...
