I must admit that I have not read all posts in this thread in complete detail, but I have 2 remarks: 1. If you want to use bamboo as a good laminate building material (like the stuff you buy off the shelf), you need to let it grow for 5 years. The plant needs to mature that long to get the correct m...

looks great! I read your post on tgr, which was quite a "ski-length" discussion ;) So this is the 190cm long answer, can't wait to read the test report. Ow, and a word of advice: I would not lend your ski's out to the maggots that easily. I am sure they mean well, but you don't get a refun...

I think it actually bonds better than plastic. I agree. I did some testing on my prototype (actually I did a "karhu" tip delam test) the sandwich construction held together without any problem. I did have edge delam problems, but I didn't clean the edges after heat treatment so it was to ...

Have a look at Endre's ski geometry measurements. They were posted somewhere on this forum, so it should not be to hard to find them using the search option.

I don't route out a space for the edges. I have only produced a single prototype and 1 pair, but I don't have any complaints about my method. The base might be a little concaved, but minor sanding takes care of it. Towards the tip and tail you also get a slightly convex topsheet, but I don't have an...

The problem with fibreglass is that it is quite brittle. The material functions well as a fibre within a composite material. As far as I know it is almost always used in composite materials (except ofcourse fibre optic cables, commonly used for data transfer). So (as plywood already stated) fibregla...

I once considered using elliptical sidecut (like Line, but I'm not sure if that's what you mean here). I modelled an elliptical sidecut over a normal circular sidecut in solidworks to make a comparrison. The geometrical difference is very smal (a couple hundredth a of millimeter if I remember correc...

Patents are mostly b*llsh*t anyway. Anyone can get one, which does not mean that it will ever hold up in court. Ski patents seem to be particularly useless, since ski designs are "copied" without regard for patents and without consequence. Almost all ski innovations, re-inventions and geom...

Am I right? you are! i think the argument that bamboo is "better" for the environment is total rubbish! it has to travel around half the world to get on your workbench (exotic woods in general). and as you said, it`s laminated. with glue. i suppose a lot of glue. and bamboo is NOT laminat...

may be a little off-topic. but here is what my wood supplier told me about bamboo: every bamboo plank has to be build out of small bamboo pieces which get pressed together and glueged together. so it`s a lot of work to get such a bamboo veneer or whatever. first thing: bamboo pieces glued together?...

@Alexisg1: Yes it is easier to build than buuk's profiler, but it does not have the same adjustability. Buuk's profiler allows him to produce almost any core profile imaginable (excluding 3D profiles ofcourse).

10 days of touring can be tougher on a pair of skis than 100 days inbounds True, but I ski out of bounds (even in bad snow conditions) and I ski snowparks. I still expect my ski's (normal factory ski's) to hold up way more than 10 days. I also expect my home builds to hold up longer than 10 days, b...

Did i get this right - you experience delamination after only 10 days of skiing on a new pair!? I agree with Alex, a 10 day life span is quite short. What kind of delam do you experience bigKam? Is it just edge delam or do you experience delam of de sandwich construction (so between the wood and fi...

Re: damping

haha, wow. I just read my post, and I did say that it'd change stiffness. I'm an idiot, sorry about that. I think I was tired when I wrote that. So ya, not change stiffness, change dampening properties. I was just trying to save you the money! But your last post shows you have some knowledge about ...
