Simply put, torsional flex is evil. It twists the ski under pressure so that the skier has less control, making the basic turn much harder and requiring more effort. The flex along the length of the ski is more of personal preferance, and is also dependant upon conditions. It doesn't really matter. ...

I agree that the industry guys might just be watching us, and other small builders. An example, that may very well be a coincidence: next year Volkl is releasing the Katana, which appears to be very similair to plywood's first ski, and even has the same type of tail that has a twin tip as well as a ...

I think that further research should be put into skiing switch related to the sidecut. Symmetric sidecut seems like a great idea, but your body shifts weight when skiing backwards, and you can't just flip your knee around 180 degrees either to provide the same edge pressure you might get when skiing...

And that pine does look (and sound) pretty sweet.

My first build, suggestions?

Hi all, I have been lurking around here for a little while, and am working on my first pair of skis. I have a few questions. First, some of the skis in the ski gallery that have little or no graphics, and show the wood core, afe said to have 22oz fiberglass on top of the core as well as below. Is it...
