It's been a while so thought I'd update you all on the progress so far. When we bought the house a buddy and I salvaged a fair bit of lumber from some old buildings they were tearing down at the saw mill where he works. Mostly old fir 2x8s all about 11' long. I needed a shed to store all the yard cr...

Hot glue!!! Clamp your board down flat to your table and hot glue the perimeter. Don't have to have a solid bead, glue a couple inches leave a couple inches, like stitches. Leave a spot to check thickness of board at the middle and end of your profile length. Just gotta be careful when removing it, ...

Haven't had a delam yet in the few pair I've done.
I usually hand sand with 120g then flame.
Good way to use up scraps.
A single layer is the perfect thickness for kids skis.
Machining the cores that thin is a different story.

I did this on my last core, unfortunately it exploded on the finishing pass with the router. I used 24k carbon tow between the wood. It was very hard on the planer knives after planing the rough cores down (to the proper thickness to start with the router) the new knives were gouged and tearing the ...

Last 2 quotes I got from alibaba were around $170/sqm + $175 shipping. Although both adds were showing around $5/kg (700% elongation) I also got quotes for regular (300% elongation) for around $40/sqm + $175 shipping. I've given up on silicone from china for the time being. If somebody comes up with...

Ya, I used a hair dryer, put clamps on the frame and slowly cranked it down until it sealed. Then pulled a vacuum and heated it up again to get it molded to my mold. The vinyl was worse than the polyu. IIRC the polyu just took a bit of pressure to get the frame sealed then heated up after pulling fu...
