Re: Happy Monkey's process

My cores are poplar with 2cm ash edge stringers, and then PTEX sidewalls, so the last couple of loops are thru ash. Feeds are just fine.

It takes about 30min to profile a core for me.

I'll work on getting the max size to show in the instructions, too.
Done. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to make this easier and I'll give it a shot.

Re: Happy Monkey's process

Thanks for linking the bits and speeds chrismp! For feeds during core profiling: Lead in, center shallow area, and full-depth nose/tail areas: 50 IPM Those little transitions between loops, which are done at full depth: 20 IPM I'd actually like to run much faster in the shallow areas, but I've never...

Re: Hosting images on the forum enabled

The error message when you try to upload a file that's too big was pretty poor. I've modified it to show you the size of the file you just tired to upload, plus the currently allowed maximum file size. Hopefully that makes it easier for people to see why their pic was too big. I'll work on getting t...

Re: Section8-titanal

Tried to add some pics, but got a note that the files were too big🤔 just regular pics. The max file size is currently 1MB, so you'll need to resize your pics down a bit. The error message was quite poor, so I went ahead and modified the upload script to tell you the relevant sizes. Hopefully that h...

Over-bending the edges.... Is this done because minor adjustments are easier for re-straightening than for bending? Am I on the right track here?
Correct.

Re: Happy Monkey's process

Well, I haven't updated this in a while. I'll see about tossing a few pics and details in here of my efforts over the past few years. I haven't been building nearly as much, but I'm still into it :) Here's a 30x time-lapse of me adding edges to a base: https://youtu.be/AkbyyPXv0go And here's a 30x o...

Embedding videos in posts enabled

I have added the Media Embed Plugin to the site, which allows you to embed, say, Youtube videos in your posts. Let's not start Rickrolling each other or the Mods will have to get involved, but I think we can put this to good use.

Example:

Enjoy!

Hosting images on the forum enabled

We have enabled image uploads to the forum! Kam and I talked about it and looked at the total number and size of images linked to the forum in the past. It's actually a pretty modest amount of space, and we think hosting images here is worth it. So I've enabled "attachments" to posts, which allows y...

Re: Recent site issues (Winter 2019)

I've chatted with Kam and we're working on the user registration process. I've added reCAPTCHA v2 as an anti-spam measure and turned registration on. I'll keep a close eye on it daily for a while here to see if I've opened the floodgates to spam or not. If you see any crap creeping in, lemme know. I...

Recent site issues (Winter 2019)

Hey gang, as you likely noticed, the site was down for a bit there. I've been helping to get it going again, and you'll see that we're on the most recent of phpBB now (3.2.5). The previous version was 11 years old, so, yea, there are differences. And there may have been things lost in the conversion...
