Well, at long last, the Windows version is available: https://github.com/mikemag/MonkeyCAM/releases/tag/v4.0.2 Docs coming soon, hopefully this weekend. It's not at all clear what all the parameters in the board and machine defs do, I know. I'll start by documenting what's there and how to generate ...

Nice work. I'm a big fan of a consistent width stringer on the outside of the cores as well.

I’ve been working on MonkeyCAM off and on over the past year, though I haven’t updated here very much. I didn’t update because I haven’t really worked on it quite as much as I would have liked because, well, I’ve just been busy with work and other things in life. The effort does continue, though! I ...

I used to have a copy of this book, but I can't find it anymore. IIRC it was interesting: http://www.amazon.com/The-Physics-Skiing-Wirtschaftswissenschaftliche-Beitrage/dp/0387007229 http://www.real-world-physics-problems.com/physics-of-skiing.html You should also check out many discussions on this ...

I'm willing to help out, but after I finish MonkeyCAM. A few thoughts for now. I can't claim to have read the entire thread carefully, sorry if I'm repeating something. - I don't think there's a big difference in the physics between a 3-roller bending design and the wire benders linked here. For a c...

I've added the final program, which is the one I use to cut trenches into the core blank along the effective edge to allow me to insert a 2cm ash stringer plus a piece of ptex sidewall material. You can see a simple 3d visualization here: http://www.happymonkeysnowboards.com/MonkeyCAM/path-viewer.ht...

What do you do where you drill the inserts and finish the sidewalls? Its these raw edges that I am referring to. For me, those raw edges get protected by the final coats of poly. Like vinman I skim-coat my veneer during layup, then sand and coat with poly afterwards. I usually bevel my edges first,...

First, a useful answer: I use 0.032" 5052-H32 aluminum sheets: http://www.happymonkeysnowboards.com/MonkeyWiki/Monkey_Press_Construction#Layers Next, a fun rant! I love it when someone gets their panties in a twist about someone not appearing to have searched. "Here's a leaky warehouse scattered wit...

Re: MonkeyCAM - how can non programmers help?

How do you plan to allow for users that want to use this commercially? Someone else pointed out that I haven't been clear enough on this. The answer is simple: party on. Free for personal and commercial use. A more detailed answer: Use of the G-Code programs this spits out carries no restrictions a...

Question (complete cnc noob here).. I see that you are using a 1.5" cutter for profiling your cores. Does your code need to use the same router bits that you use or can I use a different bit and change in Mach3? This is completely configurable already. I take tool dimensions from a config file and ...

A little more work on visualization today: http://www.happymonkeysnowboards.com/MonkeyCAM/path-viewer.html (You'll need Firefox or Chrome to view it.) This shows all the paths currently generated. From top to bottom it's base cutout, core guide holes, core alignment marks, edge groove, insert holes,...

I've added programs to cut the core and nose/tail spacers which fit the core. Samples at the link above. All programs have been tested on my CNC machine with a scrap core blank (giant knot in the middle of it) and look good. One more program to go, which is the one that makes room in the core blank ...
