Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log
Another great pair! We use the same type of mold and when you reach the state where you only need to make a couple of new blocks is only beaten by the first time you don't have to cut any new blocks for a mold haha As for the base warping, this happens due to internal stresses of the base material t...

Re: Delamination OR something else?
The required post-cure depends on your epoxy resin - you can check the TDS if it requires a post-cure. For many resins a post-cure is optional and only increases the glass transition temeperature. In those cases it should be sufficient to just keep the board for a few days at room temperature to ful...

Re: Delamination OR something else?
I think a repair should work, but will definitely create a weak spot. The question is if it will be to weak to ride. If you want to make absolutely sure, you could sand the whole top layer off and press on an entire new top layer. For posting images, you can either use the "Attachments" se...

Re: Pictures currently unavailable
Those are probably pictures in older posts when the forum didn't offer image hosting. Users had to use their own image hosting services and the reason you're seeing these messages is probably because either the images were taken down or the image hosting service is having troubles. PS: I moved this ...

Re: apply edges to ski, base last why not?
SMost probably the same construction method on those Atomics that you're referring to. The pulled down topsheet is a construction method called "cap" and has been mostly used on older skis and modern cheaper models. The only difference in the construction is that the cores and sidewalls ar...

Re: Tip fill alignment issues
You could try using a few small drops of superglue (the thicker gel type one so it doesn't suck into the wood grain) or quick setting epoxy on the seam in addition to the tape. I think that should to the trick.

Re: apply edges to ski, base last why not?
Yes, base and edges are what define the shape of the ski. Check out this video from Stöckli skis to see what the molds and technique look like: https://youtu.be/bXiN_SjwgbI?t=74 Most hobby builders use flat molds instead to be able to press multiple shapes in one mold. For this the edges are attache...

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log
Good to hear you got that covered! With some base material we had in the past it would warp right when we took it off the CNC - that was crazy.

Re: Jonrezz’s Build Log
Great build and props on the improved workflow! I feel like there's always some detail that can still be improved. As for the edge bender I feel you - that's exactly the reason why I only use nippers. Once you have some practice the nippers can actually be pretty quick. Small tip for edging the base...

Re: White spots showing through base material.
Hydraulic cold press. Could be a couple of things then. Your pressure might not be even enough (it's hard to get mold surfaces even and matching perfectly) - to mitigate this, you could use a thin layer of soft material (silicone foam sheets work well as epoxy doesn't stick to them) in the press on...

Re: White spots showing through base material.
Looks a bit like air pockets - especially since they clearly occur around the knots you can see in the picture. What type of press are you using?

Re: Heat blanket quesions
If the controller has two channels and inputs for thermocouples it might work, otherwise definitely get a second controller as these blankets often vary in their heating, so you ideally want control over each blanket separately.

Looks like a compact version of any regular belt sander. Can't see anything wrong with it and I like the way they incorporated the edge sanding with a simple jig instead of an expensive add-on or stand alone grinder.

Great looking boards as usual from you! May I ask what the two extra inserts are for on your personal board and what polyurethane are you using?
Cheers
