Re: Edges and Fiberglass
Maybe try the "Snowboard Builders" group on facebook. There are some folks building skis on there too and it is a lot more active than this forum.

Re: Aircraft ski build
You should definitely sand the UHMWPE with some 80 grit sandpaper and flame treat it right before bonding. To test if the flame treatment worked properly, you can do a water drop test (drop of water on the treated surface should spread out and not form a drop). For the adhesive, I would probably use...

Welcome to the forum, James!
That's some great work for your first pair! Definitely an interesting approach with the topsheet...looking forward to the video and some ride reports.
What types/weights of fibers did you use in your layup?

Re: Touring-Freeride progress
Nice one on saving the carbon ski! That's the right spirit. On my first snowboard I made the exact same mistake...built it with 600g +/-45 fibreglass with no fibers on the 0 axis whatsoever. Was a total noodle but still kinda fun to ride at slower speeds.

Re: Increase in camber of the ski after getting out of the press.
This is a tough one to answer as this could have many reasons. First off, did you use the same fibers on top and bottom of the core? Another issue that could be causing this might be uneven heating - i.e. the top and bottom heat blanket do not heat at the same rate. This again can have many causes. ...

Re: Splitboard halves gapping
You will need to keep the base clamped to the template during the whole process of attaching the edges until all edges are attached. That way the edges on both sides will keep the base from warping too much by pulling it almost equally in both directions. This way you can even pull a slightly warped...

Re: bending edges on a swallowtail snowboard
If it snaps I would highly recommend heating it with a torch until it glows red. The only downside of heating the edges is that the hardening (which is responsible for the edges being more brittle and prone to breaking, but also for keeping a sharp edge for longer) is removed from the part of the ed...

The messages are displayed in the Outbox until the user has actually read them. So this means that this specific user has received your message but has not read it yet.

Re: epoxy cure time
This really depends on the specific epoxy you are using. There are so many formulas out there with different requirements and curing cycles. I would suggest that you try to contact either the seller or the manufacturer to find out if it cures at lower temps.

With the tilt base router you still have a bearing on your router bit. It's basically the same bit you use in your router table setup.

Re: veneer topsheet with painted graphics
The gold standard would be epoxy based paints. Basler in Switzerland make a variety of products that can be used for this purpose. In the US Nazdar Inks makes similar products afaik. There are some other products that work too, however I would suggest you do some bonding tests with something that is...

Re: The pouring urethane sidewall thread
If you look through this whole thread and google the datasheets for the different PU resins people use, you will get an idea what hardnesses work. From what I'm aware of around 90A is on the softer side of whats regularly used and around 70D is on the harder side. VDS rubber should still be used wit...

Re: Round Top skis 19/20
Sounds like a plan! The important thing is to fill those small gaps from the bottom up. If you don't do that the epoxy might just stay on top of the gap and not fill it due to its surface tension.
