if your base material has a layer of black material on the bonding side, then i would assume you will have a similare problem, I really admire His ideas and way of doing things, i mean that picture of the broken ski is pretty incredible, but when your building large numbers of products weird things ...

i think that it would increase the pressure in the smaller bags, i would run pressure gauges on each bag to keep an eye on everything, and make sure nothing blows up. i cant see the pressure between the bags equalizing if they are not connected, it wouldn't be very hard to run a hose to connect them...

i think he must be using 0/90 because 45/-45 would be very weak tip to tail, and only strong torrsionally

I used baltic birtch in my new snowboard prototype and it seems to be just a strong as the vertically laminated poplar cores i used before.

i have stained the core and fiberglassed over it a couple times with good results showing off the vertically laminated poplar inside.

we used a water based and very colorful stain, which also acted at a water pop on the core, which raises the grain and allows alot more for the epoxy to grab onto.

alot of park specific snowboards use triax on the bottom layer and biax on the top to give the board more lateral flex and play. it make tweeked out nose pressing alot easier.

apperently they discovered it by accident
they were using strips of some sort of rubber as an adhesive to be melted by rubbing the wood together at the university, and someone forgot to put the rubber in.
