MM, The nails are just used to "locate" the core over the pins, You could say align the core to the base so it slides over without much issues as the pins are very small. The nails are then removed and lay-up is continued. I do know of some people who just run a brad nail through the core ...

The vds you see were left over pieces and decided to just put them in. As for location, I was kinda thinking of the dampening as wel...

I use this type of valve (car/truck valve). Works just fine and as stated earlier, make sure it is a sealed system.

Time...For another...

So... I've volunteered to build a set of skis to be auctioned off to raise money that is used for burned out families. I have been waiting for the tops to be printed and in the mean time I have everything else prepared and ready to go. What to do? I made another set and decided to press it. Here is ...

I kinda agree. But think of this. When looking at skis and checking the camber, What do we do? We set the skis base to base and squeeze them together with our fingers, right? So with just finger pressure we are able to flatten out the camber. Just think what body weight will do... I may be totally w...

multi piece edges

Whats the word on this? Using drop pieces of edge material together to complete a ski / board. How much strength does the edge provide to the ski / board? If I was a park skier, I would think this would be a bad idea, but thinking of powder ski / board? I think there are a few that have even gone ed...

Been a while since I had a need but I can't seem to remember where I purchased sanding belts. Any ideas?

I had a problem with the cracking across the tip spacer and core line. I cut straight across. My problem with this set of skis was that I did not overlap the joint with the skis edging. In other words the edge stopped before the joint. It is my belief that if the edge were to overlap the joint betwe...
