Casette idea

Would bonding thin aluminum sheets to both sides on a sheet of Masonite work well enough to use for casettes? I think the thickness would end up around 3/16 or 7/32ish.

I was thinking this could be a cheap alterative to solid alu sheets while both being flexible and smooth.

Thoughts.... ??

Ok I understand you problem better now with that pic. I guess I'm surprised that you get vertical deflection with those center posts there. Do you think adding an addition horizontal tube under the frame would prevent the deflection you are seeing? It looks like you could weld a 2 x 2 tube that woul...

wouldn't vertical center posts (front and back) prevent that kind of deflection?

They look great. I love the veneer. Is the shape kind of like the rossi S7? I'm designing a similar 5 dimension ski. Bug looking to do mixed camber also, regular camber under foot rocker tip/tail.

Sweet. Definitely post some pics. I would be very interested in your set up. If it works it would save me buying 2 tools... Seriously looking at the craftsman 12 inch band saw for $359. 7 inch re-saw height would handle a cores up to 165ish in width. I seriously doubt I would make any cores that big...

I was also thinking about profiling with a band saw vertically. Does anyone think making a negative jig and running the core and the jig past the band would work. Obviously there needs to be a fence also. Really like a planer crib just in the vertical plane. Like what dynastar does as mentioned abov...

when i used to work for my dad putting up vinyl siding we used a plywood blade that was turned backwards to cur the vinyl. that worked really good. Not sure how it would work on thicker material though.

nice job, they look nice. I'm sure that was a sweet feeling to ride those the first time. I know I'm looking forward to that on my first pair, hopefully by the end of this season... but It may end up being next season for me.

I cleaned out 4 rinks looking for hockey sticks over the past 3 weeks. I scored about 12 today. I ended up with about 25-28 or so broken sticks. I got anywhere from 1-4 cat track pieces from each one. I cut them all to 14 inches and drilled them to fit the free 9/32" coaxial TV cable I got for ...

I went with 14 based on available material and after consulting here and with a friend who know a lot about this stuff. Plus having a bit more room that a bit to little room is probably better since there is a bunch of stuff that will need to fit in there. Plus if it is too big I can always shim eve...

I like the finger joints and spacer idea you guys did for adjusting length.

With your adjustable camber mold did you just made different center sections for this?

strengthening MDF molds

I am up to the point of thinking about designing my molds. I have read many thread on here and could not find what I am looking for. Has anyone played around with sealing the cut MDF surfaces with thinned wood glue? Would this create a stronger mold or is this overkill? I found this discussion that ...
