I just updated the links to the pictures.. I've been making some cleanup/classification on my Picasa albums lately so some links in my posts might be broken.. the pics in that post should work now !

Same setup as Twizz for me, except I use an upcut 1/4 bit to cut out shapes (better chip clearance) It looks to me that the cnc J-Skis uses is an "homemade" one (so his max feedrate might be limited) -» maybe this kind of bit reduces the heat at lower feedrates, it looks like the feedrate ...

Hi Derek, It's working OK even though it took some adjustment and the real specs are not exactly the ones advertised. Here are some considerations on how I use it : - I have the D1 version of the Drag Knife - I have a script to add corner/swivel action to my tool path (in my CAD software, CamBam) - ...

Here's my vacuum table, it works great with just a regular shopvac, The uncovered holes are just covered with packing tape or I put some MDF leftovers to cover them... My first operation when I work on a set of cores though is to drill 2 holes at the ends of the core blank, those holes are matching ...

Thanks MM, now I have to see if I can source this locally. I'll go see a sign shop I guess... I bought mine off of ebay. did you look there? Not yet but shipping for such a "cheap" product is gonna kill me (shipping's never free to Canada !).. sourcing it locally might end up cheaper but ...

Vin -» Yes that's exactly my thinking. I said packing tape because that's what I have on hand and I didn't remember the "contact paper" wording in english :p.
Where do you source your contact paper ?

Unfortunately the spray adhesive won't keep the base together, at least with the setup I have (non-flat casette w/ "flat" materials). With the die-cut where it is, if I pre-bend the base+edges, the die-cut letters are falling, I could manage to keep them in place enough during layup with m...

your stepover is fine. I would guess the problem is you take too much material, too fast. Try doing it in 2 passes. I would keep the feedrate as is, you could even increase it if you make shallower passes since the stress on the machine will be reduced. I would not try to decrease the speed and keep...

+ masking tape is quite thick compared to cheap packing tape... by the time you ground the masking tape you already removed a lot of base material everywhere else on the snowboard.

Thanks for your reply, twizz. Skilab offer also green. It looks really vivid on the pictures, but it is out of stock... May be, another option for us is to cover transparent ptex with some epoxy based fluorescent paint. Did somebody try something like this? DTrain used to do his graphics with paint...

OK so you sublimate one ski at a time, right ? I've read somewhere that pressure time was very important and the ideal process should be to preheat the top plate (in your case), then insert the pbt+transfer paper, apply pressure (fast), wait a few minutes (duration is important), release, let it coo...

interesting.. what do you mean by "the base bubbled up" On the 2nd pic you can see 3 things : the tape indention where the die-cut is (slightly visible), some epoxy puddles, and the spray adhesive residue (more obvious on the tip opposite the die-cut on the "bottom" ski, but larg...
